Rana Daggubati was born on 14 December 1984 (age 39 years; as 0f 2023) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, Hyderabad. After completing his school, he started doing B.com but later he dropped out after 2 months. He is a graduate in Industrial Photography from Chennai Film School.

Career

Rana was fascinated by cinema and always dreamt of seeing himself on the television.

He started his career in 2004 as a film producer of the film Bommalata. He entered in the film industry as an actor in 2010 with the Telugu movie “Leader” and in Bollywood with the movie “Dum Maro Dum” (2011).

 He worked in the movie Baahubali which was the second highest grossing Indian film of that year.

In the Times Of India poll, he was voted the 10th Most Desirable Man in India 2010, The Most Promising Newcomer of 2011 and was ranked number 20 in the list of Most Desirable Men 2011.

In 2004, he won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu (Bommalata) and Nandi Award for Best Special Effects for Sainikudu.

Rana Daggubati won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Telugu) award at the 11th South Indian International Movie Awards for the film ‘Bheemla Nayak.’ The event was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates.

Controversies

• On February 2013, he had some controversial conversation on Twitter with actor Vikram. The two actors were a part of a battle of words; which began with Vikram’s statement against Rana Daggubatti.

• In February 2023, a local businessman in Telangana named Pramod Kumar filed a complaint against Rana Daggubati and his father, D. Suresh Babu. accusing them of illegally grabbing land from him. According to Pramod Kumar, Rana’s father leased out the disputed land in Shaikpet to him in 2014, and at the end of the lease, he had a deal of Rs 18 crores to buy the property from Rana’s father and had even paid Rs. 5 crores to them; however, Suresh Babu later cancelled the deal and transferred the property to his son Rana’s name. Following Pramod Kumar’s complaint against Rana and his father, the third additional chief metropolitan magistrate court at Nampall issued summons to them. ^[1]Telangana Today

• In August 2023, during a pre-release event for ‘King of Kotha,’ Rana made a comment about Dulquer Salmaan‘s patience on set, contrasting it with Sonam Kapoor‘s behaviour, which he described as distracting. ^[2]NDTV He said,
  

  Dulquer was my junior at acting school. We became friends there. He is a very polite person. He’s doing a Hindi movie and the producers are my friends. The shoot was happening near my house. I went there to meet Dulquer. While he was standing in the corner with the spot boy, a big Hindi heroine who was doing that movie was engrossed in a phone conversation about shopping in London with her husband. Her lack of focus affected the shots’ quality, frustrating those on set. Despite the disruptions caused by the situation, Dulquer remained patient and understanding, defusing tension and maintaining a harmonious environment.”

  After facing backlash from Rana’s remarks, Sonam responded by sharing a quote by the former first lady of the United States Eleanor Roosevelt on Instagram. Rana, however, later apologized to Sonam through a post on X, explaining that they often shared friendly banter and regretted his misinterpreted words.
