Varun Mitra started his career in the entertainment industry as a host for the travel TV show ‘2 For The Road’ (2012), which was broadcast on NDTV GoodTimes. In 2013, he appeared as a host for NDTV GoodTimes’s another travel TV show named ‘Good Drives,’ sponsored by Tata Safari.
In 2020, he was featured in the Discovery Channel TV show ‘Emission Impossible,’ sponsored by Hyundai Kona Electric. In the show, he travelled to Mt Everest base camp.

During the shooting, the children formed a close relationship with him despite having the language barrier.
