Sherlyn started her career as a model. At the age of 19, she won the Miss Andhra beauty pageant.

Controversies

Tiff with the Film Director

In 2014, Sherlyn wrote insulting tweets against film director Rupesh Paul after apparently quitting the English film ‘Kamasutra 3D.’ Her expletive-laden language ranged from Sherlyn tweeting to say Paul was a “Mother****er who deserved a punch on his face” to “Mr Pimp who gave me high profile work.” She also wrote “Gobar ke murrabbe ko pata toh chale ki uska paala kis ‘type’ ki ladki se padaa…”, and “Rupesh ko nanga dekhne ke khauf se Dhritarashtra janm se hi andha tha.” Her torrent of tweets also insisted she had shot for the film for only five days, a reality that became possible because her popularity helped Paul find producers. Later, Rupesh Paul filed a defamation case against her alleging that the actor had abused him on a social networking site. In his complaint, filed before Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Paul alleged that she had commented abusive and obscene comments toward him on the social networking site Twitter. Earlier, Chopra had lodged a complaint at a police station in Mumbai alleging that Paul had not paid the remaining Rs 7 lakh of her total remuneration for acting in the film. A few years later, Rupesh Paul and Sherlyn Chopra decided to bury the hatchet and put an end to the months-long exchange of abuses. Apparently, the two realized that a third person was the reason behind the issue. Feud with Raj Kundra

In 2019, Poonam Pandey moved the Bombay High Court to file a case against Raj Kundra and his associates who collaborated with her for an app. They allegedly used content featuring her even after the contract was terminated. In 2021, Sherlyn Chopra again filed molestation against the Indian businessman Raj Kundra’s firm Armsprime Media. However, she then terminated her contract. According to sources in the Cyber Crime branch of Maharashtra Police, Sherlyn Chopra along with the Indian actress Poonam Pandey were accused in a pornography case involving Raj Kundra. Raj Kundra was subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The Cyber Crime branch recorded their statements, wherein both actresses made allegations against Raj Kundra. He had obtained interim bail from the court, and the final hearing for his bail application was scheduled for later that month. It was reported that Sherlyn Chopra had a contract with Raj Kundra’s Armsprime Media to provide pornographic content for app-based companies outside India. Sherlyn Chopra’s former lawyer, Charanjeet Chanderpal, who secured anticipatory bail for her from the Bombay High Court, revealed that she used to run her own app with semi-pornography. She said that her work caught Raj Kundra’s attention when it wasn’t doing well, and Kundra promised her 50 per cent of the profits. The agreement was even signed by Raj Kundra himself. Between June 2019 and July 2020, they generated a significant income. Fight with Rakhi Sawant

In 2023, the Mumbai Police shared that Bollywood celebrities Sherlyn and Rakhi Sawant had filed FIRs against each other for using objectionable language. Following a complaint by Chopra, an FIR was registered against Rakhi Sawant and advocate Falguni Brahmbhatt. The Mumbai Police stated that the FIR was filed under multiple sections of the IPC and IT Act. The complaint alleged that Rakhi Sawant and Falguni Brahmbhatt had shown an objectionable video of Chopra during a press conference and used inappropriate language. Conversely, Rakhi Sawant lodged a case against Sherlyn Chopra at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station. Rakhi Sawant explained that Sherlyn Chopra had accused her of changing boyfriends in a video posted on YouTube and Instagram on 6 November 2022. Following the complaint, she held a press conference where she provided detailed information about her experience of sexual harassment. During the conference, Sherlyn Chopra disclosed that she had filed a molestation case against businessman Sunil Lodha in Mumbai while claiming to provide money for a video recording. When she resisted, he used abusive language and even threatened her. Recounting the incident, Sherlyn shared that on 12 April 2023, after returning from Dubai, she was informed by her manager about an eager investor who wanted to meet her. The investor, Sunil Parasmani Lodha, expressed admiration for her work and intended to invest in her project. He provided a token amount through her manager and also gave her another sum as ‘good luck’. Sherlyn informed him that the amount wasn’t enough for her project’s needs and indicated a requirement of Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh for a satisfactory music video. Sunil Lodha promised to send the rest of the money to her account and engaged in conversation until 12:30 AM. Sherlyn offered him a ride home since he claimed not to have one, and he was dropped off after her. However, he later wished to see her house, which she allowed. He was offered drinks and vegetarian food, and they engaged in conversation on the couch. During their interaction, Sunil suddenly touched her breast to which Sherlyn expressed her discomfort and he apologised.
