Anurag Bhadouria is an Indian politician who is the National Spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party. He was the former sports minister of the state under the government of Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh. He is the chairman of the Indian Gramin Cricket League (IGCL).

Anurag Singh Bhadouria was born on Thursday, 8 August 1971 (age 52 years; as of 2023) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Leo. He completed his high school at Colvin Taluquadar Inter College Lucknow in 1994. He completed a Bachelor of Technology at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigarh, Maharashtra in 2000. He pursued an executive business management program at the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. He is a PhD holder as well. He has done Virsahad in flute at Bhatkhande University, Lucknow.

Politician

He joined Samajwadi Party when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the president of the party. Later, Akhilesh Yadav appointed him as the spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party of Uttar Pradesh. In 2017, he contested the Legislative Assembly election from the Lucknow East constituency with a collaboration of the Samajwadi Party and Indian National Congress; he lost the election to Ashutosh Tandon from the Bhartiya Janta Party.

He is the founder of the Indian Gramin Cricket League. He organised many cricket matches in districts of Uttar Pradesh. He even organised league matches in different states like West Bengal, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. In 2016, during an interview with Hindustan Times, he said

Controversies

Derogatory remarks on Yogi Adityanath

In November 2022, a complaint was filed by BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai against Anurag for making insulting comments about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Late guru Mahant Awaidyanath on a private news channel. In this complaint, Bajpai claimed that Anurag said

Jo mukhymatri hai vo avaidhnath ke vaidh putra nahi hote to kya MP ban jate,”

which hurt the feelings of followers of the Mahant Awaidyanath. [2]The Times of India An FIR was lodged by Hazratganj Police Station against Anurag under the charges of 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 505 (publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or report with intent to incite) of the IPC. After being asked by police to show up at the police station, Anurag was on the run and approached High Court for anticipatory bail but the court rejected his application.

A scuffle with BJP Leader

In December 2018, Anurag was invited to a debate at Zee News channel based in Noida where during a heated argument, Arnurag and BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia got engaged in a fight. Gaurav Bhatia called the police at the news channel location and Anurag was taken into custody. Gaurav filed an FIR against Anurag under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
