Sidhi Pee Case
In 2023, a video went viral on the internet which showed Pravesh Shukla allegedly urinating on a tribal labourer in an inebriated state. He was seen smoking a cigarette as he peed at the victim. The incident took place at the Kubari market of Sidhi district in June 2023. The victim was identified as Dasmat Ravat (36), a resident of Karaundi village. Following an online outcry, Pravesh Shukla was apprehended during the late hours of July 4, 2023. The arrest came as a result of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s directive to invoke the National Security Act (NSA), a stringent measure, against Shukla. Confirming Shukla’s arrest through a media conversation, Sidhi superintendent of police Ravindra Verma said,
An FIR has been registered against him (Shukla) under section 294 (using obscene language), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.”

While the BJP leaders distanced themselves from Shukla after the video went viral, Opposition Congress alleged that Shukla was an associate of Kedarnath Shukla. Meanwhile, Pravesh’s Shukla’s father Ramakant Shukla also asserted that Pravesh was the representative of Bharatiya Janata Pary MLA Kedarnath Shukla. In an interview, he said,
He is a representative of the BJP MLA, which is why he is being targeted by the opposition. I hope there is a thorough investigation in the case, and justice is served.”
Kedarnath, however, dismissed the charge. He said,
Pravesh was never a representative of mine. I just know him.”
Following the widespread circulation of the video and the subsequent public attention, a sworn affidavit was presented on behalf of the victim, explicitly stating that there was no conflict between him and Pravesh Shukla.
