Indira Devi (1952 – 2022) was an Indian woman and the mother of prominent Telugu actor Mahesh Babu. She is also known for being the wife of veteran Telugu actor Krishna Ghattamaneni. She died after suffering from illness on 28 September 2022 at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad. The news of her demise was shared by her son Mahesh Babu on social media. He penned,

Smt. Ghattamaneni Indira Devi, wife of veteran actor Krishna and mother of Mahesh Babu passed away a short while ago. She had been suffering from illness for quite some time now.”

The couple has two sons named Mahesh Babu, a noted Telugu actor and Ramesh Babu. On 10 January 2022, Ramesh Babu dies due to an age-related illness. Ramesh Babu was a Telugu actor and producer. He was the founder of a production house named Krishna Productions Pvt. Ltd. In 2004, he began producing Telugu films under his production house along with his younger brother Mahesh Babu. Mahesh appeared in hit Telugu films Arjun and Athidhi, which were produced by Ramesh Babu.

Indira has three daughters named Padmavathi, Manjula, and Priyadarsini. Padmavathi is her eldest daughter, and she is a homemaker. Padmavathi is married to Galla Jaydev, a famous Indian businessman and a renowned politician who works as a Member of Parliament in Andhra Pradesh backed by the Telugu Desam Party.

Manjula, her second daughter, is a Telugu film actress, producer, and director.

Priyadarshini, her youngest daughter, is married to Telugu actor Sudheer Babu.

Once, in a media interview, Mahesh Babu remembered that in his childhood, his mother never scolded him. he added in the same discussion that his mother was a very kind and polite lady.

According to Mahesh Babu, he used to visit his mother’s house before the release of his every film. He liked to have a cup of coffee made with her hands and considered it like ‘prasada’ from the temple. At the beginning of 2022, in an interview with a media reporter, Mahesh talked about his bond with Indira Devi. He said,

I go to my mother’s house and drinks a coffee before the release of my movie as I feel that coffee is like prasada from temple for me.”
