Anmol Kwatra is an Indian social worker and actor. He is the founder of the NGO Ek Zaria, an Initiative by We Do Not Accept Money or Things. In 2020, he played the role of Shitran in the Punjabi film Ik Sandhu Hunda Si.

Career

Anmol Kwatra started working as a social worker when he was in college and founded the NGO We Do Not Accept Money or Things, which was later renamed as Ek Zaria. Through his NGO, Anmol provides help to poor children on the streets with medical aid, food, and other healthcare facilities. He mainly takes cases of children who are below the age of 13. However, he has also helped many other persons in need.

Unlike other NGO’s Anmol’s NGO does not accept any money or things from the donors instead helps in connecting the donor with the needy. He also makes frequent visits to government schools in Punjab and distributes books, stationery, and uniforms to needy children. Although he works alone, his NGO has around 20,000 to 25,000 registered members (as of 2023).

In 2019, he released his Punjabi song Daleriyan on the Punjabi channel 9X Tashan. The song received appreciation from the audience.

A year later, he played the role of Shitran in the Punjabi film Ik Sandhu Hunda Si starring Gippy Grewal in the lead role.

  • In an interview, Anmol disclosed that he got inspired to start an NGO by his father who used to do sewa by conducting funeral ceremonies for unidentified dead bodies. He further disclosed that when he was in college and used to collect money from people to help the poor, some of his friends laughed that he used that money to buy clothes and shoes for himself instead of donating the money to the poor, so he decided to keep things transparent. It was then he decided not to accept any cash or things and asked the donors to directly approach the needy.
  • During a media conversation, Anmol Kwatra revealed that he received more than 2000 calls a day and strived to help them all. He keeps visiting government schools in Punjab and works towards improving their condition.
  • In May 2019, When Kwatra’s father contested the Councillor elections in Ludhiana on a ticket from the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP), two Congress workers allegedly assaulted and attacked him and his father during the polling of votes. After Kwatra shared the incident on his social media handles, many of his supporters gathered at the Shivpuri Chowk and blocked the national highway to demand action against the Congress workers.
