As an Actor

Saahil struggled for many years and could only find menial roles in regional films and TV shows. In 2013, he caught a break when he was roped in for the role of William Patel in the Dan Baron’s directorial Hollywood film ‘Basmati Blues.’ In an interview, talking about his acting journey, Sehgal said,
It has been a long-cherished dream. There were challenges, disappointments on the way. I took the small steps towards my goal. And finally, it is happening today.”
Prior to his selection, Sehgal went through a series of auditions for this film. He had a Skype interview with Dan Baron and then flew to Los Angeles to do a screen test with the Oscar-winning actor Brie Larson. In an interview, while sharing an anecdote, Saahil said,
At that point of time, my US Visa had just expired and I couldn’t get it renewed on time. It was a very frustrating moment for me. But I couldn’t do much about it. A few weeks later when I was in Kolkata shooting for an ad, I got a call from the casting director to come down to Mumbai as the film’s director was in the city and wanted me to re-audition.”
The actor had a small role in the Amazon Prime web series ‘Four More Shots Please!’ alongside his wife Kirti Kulhari. The show was released in 2019.
Other than his work in movies and TV shows, Saahil has also acted in several advertisements.
Saahil’s Hollywood film Basmati Blues met with a lot of controversies for its poor storyline and stereotypical representation of Indian culture. In the defence of his film, Saahil said,
The directors and the entire crew love the culture and history of India. Their intention was not to ridicule the culture. People have jumped the gun and reacted before watching the film.” The Hindu
