Director
In 1994, A.S. Ravi Kumar Chowdary started his career in the Telugu film industry as an assistant director to Sagar for the film Amma Donga (1995). For the next 10 years, he worked with Sagar. In between, he also worked on the Telugu film Nee Kosam (1999) with the director Seenu Vytla. He made his debut as a director in 2002, with the Telugu film Manasutho, but that film was a Box office flop, but later in 2004, he directed Yagnam which became a big hit. Chowdary has directed many films including Jeevitham (2014), Aatadista (2008), and Soukhyam (2015). He has also directed a television show Dondu Donde (2016). He has worked with famous actors of the south industry like T. Gopichand and Brahmanandam.

Chowdary kisses Mannara Chopra
In August 2023, during an event for the promotion of his film Thiragabadara Saami (2023), while being clicked by the paparazzi, A.S. Ravi Kumar Chowdary pulled Mannara Chopra closer and kissed her on the cheek, totally leaving the actress uncomfortable. The actress brushed off the incident with a nervous laugh but the video went viral on social media leaving the netizens angry. Mannara Chopra, the cousin of the famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, did not give any clarification on the issue. Meanwhile, people on social slammed Ravi Kumar for his action and compared the whole incident with a similar situation faced by the south actress Kajal Aggarwal when she was kissed on stage by cinematographer Chota K Naidu without consent.
