Manikandan Thonnakkal is a native of Thonnakkal, Kerela. He went to GOVT HSS Thonnakkal (High school), following which he studied at Govt College Attingal. He did his graduation in Malayalam language & literature at University College, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) in 1993.

Career

Manikandan Thonnakkal is a teacher with a deep interest in literature, agriculture, and epics. He also works as a manager at Sree Gokulam Medical Centre, Attingal. ^[1]Facebook – Manikandan Pillai C He also runs a YouTube channel called Maniyan Speaking, which has over 10 thousand subscribers. He uses his channel as a medium to make content on language, literature, mythology, and humorous topics. Reportedly, he has also acted in over 25 Malayalam serials. The idea of ‘Maniyan Speaking’ struck him during the Covid-19 pandemic when all the educational institutions were closed and acting houses were shut down. In 2022, he entered the Bigg Boss Season 4 (Malayalam) house as the first wild-card contestant of the show on its 20th day.

He was assigned the task to teach Malayalam to the existing players of the show, especially Daisy David and Nimisha PS as the show was being criticised because the contestants were not abiding by the rules of the house and were not even speaking in Malayalam despite several warning from the host of the show, Mohanlal. However; Manikandan’s presence in the reality show became a stint as he walked out of the show on the 27th day due to some health complications.
