Janina Elkin

Janina Elkin is a German Actress who is best known for appearing in the films Bela Kiss: Prologue (2011), Stille Nachtas (2012), and Foreign Body (2014). She is also known for her performance in the lead role of Dominique in the German Independence Award-winning short film Scissu (2009).

Janina Elkin was born on Monday, December 20, 1982 (age 38 years; as of 2020), in Kyiv, Ukraine. At a very early age, she began her dance training at Kyiv State Dance Academy. Later, she took Ballet lessons at State Ballet Academy in Mannheim, Germany. In 2001, she enrolled herself in Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York for a four-year course in acting. Thereafter, in 2012, she pursued a two-year course at Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, Berlin. To achieve expertise, she pursued various additional acting courses like Method Acting Master Class (2010), Meisner Technique training (2010) at Actors-Space in Berlin, Ivana Chubbuck Masterclass (2018), etc. [1]Schauspielervideos

Theatre

In 2003, Janina Elkin began her journey as a theatre artist at Altonaer Theater in Hamburg, where she played the role of Yvonne in the theatre play ‘Der schönste Tag.’ Thereafter, she performed in various plays like Lost (2006), Der Taxifahrer (2007), Motortown (2007), etc. In 2009, she starred as ‘Baby’ in the play Dirty Dancing at Theater am Potsdamer Platz, Berlin.

In 2004, Janina Elkin made her short-film debut with Tumbling Leaf. Thereafter, she gained popularity with the German Independence Award-winning short film Scissu (2009) in which she played the role of Dominique.

In 2003, Janina Elkin made her debut with a German television film Küssen verboten, Baggern Erlaubt (Kissing forbidden, digging allowed) in which she played the role of a mistress Geliebte. In 2004, she appeared in  ZDF’s crime-drama ‘Der Ermittler’ (The Investigator) as a dancer. In 2012, she played one of the protagonists, Anna-Carina Levin, in the show ‘Schloss Einstein.’

In 2014, she rose to fame with the film ‘Foreign Body’ in which she played the role of Irina, a young Ukrainian woman who blackmails Wolfgang Kruber; the recipient of the illegally transplanted kidney of Irina. The role of Irina earned Janina various accolades including the Best Actress Award at the Levante International Film Festival (2016), Italy.
