Gurlal Brar (1993-2020) was an Indian gangster from Punjab, who was a close alliance of the Indian gangster group ‘Lawrence Bishnoi Group.’ Reportedly, he was involved in many extortion and murder cases in Punjab. He was not shot while he was partying at the club, but he was shot when he was waiting for his friends in his SUV outside a nightclub.

There is not much information about his parents and siblings. His cousin brother, Goldy Brar, is a gangster.
While in college, Gurlal joined the student political group Students of Panjab University (SOPU). He was elected as the President of SOPU. During the 2016 student union elections, he tore the poster of the opposition party in DAV College sector 10, Chandigarh. He even threatened the candidates contesting against him in the elections.
In 2020, he was charged under IPC section 354 by the Industrial Area, Chandigarh police for slapping a girl. Gurlal’s two female friends had an argument with some other girls outside a mall. His friends called him to the mall, and after a heated argument with two other girls, Gurlal slapped a girl. The Tribune
On 10 October 2020, he was partying at the Playboy Club in City Emporium Mall, Chandigarh with his friends. After spending a few hours there, he left his friends at the party and went to Paara Club, Centra Mall, Chandigarh, to celebrate his female friend’s birthday. He asked his friends to pick him up from the Paara club within 10 minutes. After reaching the club, he was parking his SUV car on the roadside, so the security guard of the mall asked him to park his car at some other place. He then drove his car to a nearby pavement, and while he was sitting in the car, a few assailants on motorcycles rushed toward him and started firing at him. According to the sources, after a seven-round of firings, the shooters fled. According to the local police,
The victim’s friends arrived at the spot to pick him up they saw him lying in a pool of blood. His head was resting on the steering wheel. They thought that Gurlal might have met with an accident as the SUV was parked on the pavement. One of Gurlal’s friends called a bouncer who works at a club. He reached there and they all rushed Gurlal to the PGI where the doctors declared him brought dead. On reaching the hospital, the victim’s friends came to know that he was shot.”
Later, the local police took Gurlal to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead. A day after the incident, a gangster named Davinder Bambiha took to Facebook to take the responsibility for the murder. He wrote,
It was revenge for Lavi Deora’s murder that was committed by Gurlal Brar and his gang in Kot Kapura, Punjab.”
The local police registered a case against Dilpreet Singh Dhahan aka Baba who reportedly provided arms for Gurlal’s murder, and the arms were recovered from a nullah in the Industrial Area of Chandigarh. Later, the motorcycles were also identified which were provided by the gangsters Gurvinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh alias Geeta to the shooters named Neeraj Chaska and Mandeep Mandy. In 2021, the main shooter in the murder case was identified as Beant Singh. On 29 May 2022, the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead. On the same day, Gurlal Brar’s cousin brother Goldy Brar took to Facebook to take responsibility for Sidhu’s death. The Tribune Goldy wrote,
I, along with Sachin Bishnoi Dhattaranwali, Lawrence Bishnoi group, take responsibility for the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala. His name came up in connection with the murder of Vicky Middukhera and Gurlal Brar and despite this, the police did nothing.”
- Gurlal had two tattoos inked on his body- a tattoo on his right shoulder, and a hand grenade tattoo on his right forearm.
