Gaurish Akki

Gaurish Akki is an Indian journalist, television news presenter, Kannada film actor, director, and YouTuber. He gained recognition for his roles in the films ‘Cinema My Darling’ (2016), Kengulabi (2018), and ‘Fantasy’ (2022). In addition, he is the founder of Alma Media School in Bengaluru.

Gaurish Akki was born in Village Mudhol in Yelburga Taluk, District Koppal, Karnataka. He did his schooling at Parimala High School, Bidar, Karnataka. Teaching

Soon after completing his formal education, Gaurish Akki began his career as a lecturer at Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College. Later, he taught at S Nijalingappa College in Bengaluru.

However, after teaching for a year in noted Indian colleges, his passion for media led him to switch his career. In 2000, Gaurish Akki started his news career with ETV Kannada News channel in Hyderabad. He worked there in several roles such as voice-over artist, copy editor, bulletin producer, and program producer. After his work with ETV News, Gaurish Akki joined TV9 (Kannada) in Bangalore in March 2005. He was one of the founding members of TV9 (Kannada) and played an instrumental role in the channel’s success by anchoring various political, social, and cultural programs.

During his time at TV9, he interviewed all the big names in the Kannada film industry and created popular interview series such as “Sakhathmaathu,” “Premapallavi,” and “Flashback.” Gaurish Akki then made a name for himself in the entertainment section of this news channel. In 2010, he moved to Suvarna News 24/7, where he led the cinema team and created the program “Cinema Hungama” as well as directed and produced other series such as “Out of Focus.” He then served as the chief anchor for Suddi TV from May 2016 to June 2017.

Film

Aside from his journalism career, Gaurish Akki has a passion for films. In 2013, Gaurish Akki played a supporting role in the Kannada films ‘Charminar’ and ‘Lucia.’ He acted in the Kannada movie ‘Sipayee’ as a lead actor in 2016.

He then wrote and directed the Kannada movie “Cinema My Darling” which was released in March 2016, and also acted as a lead actor in the novel-based Kannada movie ‘Kengulabi,’ which was released in 2018. In the same year, he appeared in the film ‘Navodaya Dayzz.’
