Vikas Kandola is an Indian kabaddi player. He plays as a raider for the Indian national team. He is associated with various franchise Kabaddi teams such as Bengaluru Bulls, Haryana Steelers, Dabang Delhi, and East Central Railway in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

Vikas Kandola was born on Thursday, 2 April 1998 (age 25 years; as of 2023) in Village Budain, District Jind, Haryana. His zodiac sign is Gemini. After completing his school education, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rajiv Gandhi College in Uchana, Haryana. As per a media report, he started practising Kabaddi when he was eight years old at the local Kabaddi court in his village in Haryana. His coach, Dharm Raj, encouraged him to participate in inter-school national Kabaddi championships. Later, Vikas Kandola moved to Bhalgarh in Sonepat to receive training for a year at the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The following year, he shifted to Gujarat and trained for three years at SAI Netaji Subhas Western Centre, Gandhinagar.

Career

Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)

In 2016, Vikas Kandola made his debut in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) with the Dabang Delhi team, where he scored 3 points in 17 raids. Later, he was bought by Haryana Steelers for Rs. 15.24 lakh in Season 5 of PKL, where he scored 58 points in 9 games. He was retained by the team for Season 6 at Rs. 47 lakh, and he scored 177 points. For Season 7, they retained him for Rs. 77.83 lakh, and he scored 195 points in 20 matches. In Season 8, he was retained for Rs. 87 lakh and scored 180 points.

In Season 9, Vikas Kandola moved to the Bengaluru Bulls team for Rs. 1.70 crore and scored 139 points. Later, Vikas began working as a Travelling Ticket Examiner in Indian Railways in Patna, Bihar. Apart from PKL, Vikas has also played for Railways in the 3rd Kabaddi Federation Cup championships in 2019.

Medals

Vikas Kandola won multiple gold medals in various national and university-level Kabaddi championships. He has won two gold medals in the Senior National Kabaddi Championships, two gold medals in the Junior National Kabaddi Championships, a gold medal in the All India Inter University Kabaddi Championships, a gold medal in under-19 Kabaddi Championships, and a gold medal in under-17 Kabaddi championships. In 2016, Vikas Kandola won a gold medal in the Junior Kabaddi championships held in Iran, and in 2019, he clinched a gold medal at the 13th South Asian Games organised in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Janakpur.
