Tanishka was born on Wednesday, 14 September 2005 (age 17 years, as of 2022), and she hails from Narnaul, Mahendragarh, Haryana. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. She started attending Yaduvanshi Shiksha Niketan, Narnaul when she was in class 2. In an interview, she talked about her studies and said that earlier she was an average student and started chasing academic excellence when she was in class 8. She passed class 12 in 2022 with 98.6% marks and class 10 with 96.4% marks. She moved to Kota, Rajasthan, when she was in class 11 to prepare for NEET-UG at Allen Career Institute. While talking about the institute, she said,
I have been a classroom student of Allen for the last two years. The atmosphere of Kota and Allen’s name was heard a lot. So, I decided to come to Kota to prepare for NEET.”
Family
Tanishka’s father, Krishan Kumar, serves as a teacher at a government school. Her mother, Sarita Kumari, is also a teacher at a government school. Tanishka is the eldest of three siblings. She has a brother and a sister. As of 2022, her brother studies in class 3 and her sister is in class 9.

NEET UG 2022
She secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in NEET-UG 2022 obtaining 715 marks out of 720. Her total percentile was 99.9997733 which was an aggregate of 99.9673008 in Physics, 99.9965997 in Chemistry, and 99.9885525 in Biology (Botany & Zoology). The exam was held on 17 July 2022, and its result was declared on 7 September 2022. Although three other NEET candidates, namely Vatsa Ashish Batra (Dehli), Hrishikesh Nagabhushan Gangule, and Rucha Pawashe (Karnataka), obtained the same marks as Tanishka, the National Testing Agency (NTA) did not jointly award the first rank to all four. Using its tie-breaker policy, NTA awarded the first rank to Tanishka, second rank to Vatsa Ashish Batra, third rank to Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule, and AIR 4 to Rucha Pawashe.
Facts/Trivia
- Apart from her extraordinary performance in NEET UG, Tanishka also performed well in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main in which she scored an impressive 99.50 percentile.
- In an interview, she said that she chose to study medicine because “it is such a field in which you can establish yourself by helping others.”
- Talking about her future plans in an interview, Tanishka revealed that she wanted to pursue MBBS from Delhi AIIMS. She also revealed that she desired to pursue a specialisation in Cardiology, neurology, or oncology.
- Tanishka’s maternal grandmother died of cancer. While talking about it heavy-heartedly in an interview, Tanishka’s mother said that the incident encouraged Tanishka to become a doctor.
