Arjun Mohan was born in Kannur, Kerala. He attended Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Tripunithura for school education from 1990 to 2002. He then studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the National Institute of Technology in Calicut from 2002 to 2006. He earned his MBA from 2010 to 2012 at the Indian Institute of Management in Kozhikode. Career

Arjun Mohan started his career in July 2006 as a technical staff member with Rambus, an American technology firm in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and worked there until December 2009. From December 2008 to January 2016, Arjun Mohan worked as a part-time consultant at Byju’s India in Bangalore. In December 2009, he joined Mentor Graphics as a field application engineer and served there until June 2010. Arjun Mohan then interned at HSBC Bank in Mumbai from April 2011 to May 2011. In June 2010, he became a student editor of the IIMK newsletter at the Indian Institute of Management in Kozhikode and served as a member of the corporate relations and placements committee at IIM (Kozhikode) from September 2010 to March 2012. Arjun Mohan then became a TAS manager at Tata Services in Mumbai in June 2012.

Arjun Mohan then served as the national sales and operations manager at Titan Company Limited in Bangalore from June 2013 to January 2016. From there, he moved on to Byju’s as the vice president of marketing in February 2016 and later, became the chief business officer in April 2019, where he worked until March 2020. In March 2020, Arjun Mohan became the CEO of upGrad until February 2023. He also served as a part-time board member for Talentedge in Gurugram from April 2022 to March 2023. Additionally, he was appointed as a part-time member of the board of advisors for the Electrical Engineering department at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut in April 2022 and as a part-time board member for The Mom Store, a mother and baby products brand, in Bengaluru.

Arjun Mohan was then appointed as a member of the board of directors at Sharekhan, an Indian retail brokerage full-service brokerage firm, in Mumbai in March 2023. Arjun Mohan has certifications in Consumer Behavior, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Mergers, Acquisitions, Corporate Restructuring, Product, Policy and Brand Management, and Strategic Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. In September 2023, he returned to Byju’s and was appointed as its CEO. In April 2024, he announced his resignation as the CEO of Byju’s.

Arjun Mohan released his debut book ‘Educating A Billion’ in 2023.

• In August 2022, Arjun Mohan was honoured with the Business World Education 40 under 40 award for his contribution to education and upskilling by Business World.
