Alakh Pandey was born on Wednesday, 2 October 1991 (age 31 years; as of 2022) in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Libra. He did his schooling at Bishop Johnson School & College, Allahabad (2010). In 2011, he started studying BTech in Mechanical Engineering at Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. However, in the third year of his college, he dropped out of college as he was not happy with the teaching style of his college teachers. His father, Satish Pandey, used to work as a private contractor. His mother, Rajat Pandey, used to work as a teacher at Vishnu Bhagwan Public School, Uttar Pradesh. His sister, Aditi Pandey, works in a software company.

Wife

On 22 February 2023, he got married to Shivani Dubey, a freelance journalist.

After dating her for two and a half years, Alakh got engaged to her in June 2022.

Career

While Alakh was in class 11, he started giving tuition at an educational institute in Allahabad. There, he used to get a salary of Rs. 5000 per month. After working there for a few years, he realised that the reach of the offline classes to the students was less. ^[3]India Herald In 2016, he decided to start a YouTube channel through which he could provide free online classes to students. He named his channel Physics Wallah – Alakh Pandey and started uploading lectures on Physics on his channel.

 

Initially, his videos gained a few views, he then decided to improve the quality of the content of his lectures for which he bought study material from Kota, Rajasthan, and used that study material in his lectures. Slowly, his videos started attracting more views.

As of December 2022, his YouTube channel Physics Wallah – Alakh Pandey has more than 9.25 million subscribers.

In 2018, he provided study materials for class 10, class 11, class 12, and IIT JEE/NEET exam through his mobile app Physica Wallah. Within four days from the date of launching the app, more than 35,000 people enrolled in the courses available on the app.

In 2022, Alakh started an educational institute in Kota, Rajasthan.

Apart from Physics, he has started making YouTube videos on other subjects. Some of his such YouTube videos are MBA Wallah, GATE Wallah, and Teaching Wallah. He is also a motivational speaker, and he has been invited as a guest speaker at various events like TEDx Talks.

Controversy

Fued with the Indian YouTuber Aman Dhattarwal

On 30 October 2022, the Indian YouTuber Aman Dhattarwal uploaded a video on his YouTube channel, accusing Alakh of poaching his students and teachers. He also presented valid proof for the same in the video. Soon after the video was uploaded, fans of Aman and Alakh started having a comments war in the video’s comment section. ^[4]The Sports Grail

Facts/Trivia

• When he was a kid, his family’s financial condition was poor. While he was studying in class 3, his father sold a portion of their house as his father’s salary was not enough to meet the financial expenses of the family. Later, his father sold the whole house and the family moved to a rented apartment in a slum area. While Aulakh was in class 6, he used to travel around 5 km on his cycle to give tuition to younger children.
