As per a senior official from NTA, if two candidates have the same marks, their ranks are determined by a tie-breaker rule, i.e., the candidate with higher marks in biology is given a higher rank than the others. If the biology marks are also the same, the rule is applied for chemistry and then for physics. If the scores remain the same, the older candidate gets the higher rank. Although Bora Varun Chakravarthi secured the same marks as him, he was kept in the second position as per the NEET tiebreaker policy.
