Rikant Pittie is an Indian entrepreneur, film producer and philanthropist. He is the COO and co-founder of the online travel company EaseMyTrip. In 2022, Rikant was listed among the Fortune India 40 under 40.

Rikant Pittie was born on Thursday, 18 August 1988 (age 35 years; as of 2023) in Delhi, India. His zodiac sign is Leo. He enrolled at Vivekanand School, New Delhi in 1995 and completed his school education in 2005. He joined Kurukshetra University, Thanesar, Haryana in 2006, where he completed his B.Tech in 2010.

Career

Business

In 2008, at the age of 17, Rikant Pittie started his career as an entrepreneur. He and his elder brother Nishant Pitti decided to create a travel portal named Duke Travels for people who have trouble booking tickets online. Initially, their father provided funds for their business venture later their family and friends helped them. After that, when the company started making progress the Airline company Air Deccan contacted them to become their travel partner. Thereafter, Duke Travels’ name was changed to EaseMyTrip and became a well-known brand for travel booking.

 

The company EaseMyTrip Private Limited was incorporated on 20 July 2012. According to sources in 2019, the company had 42,000 travel agents, 1,200 franchise outlets, 640 white-label solutions, and 1,600 distributors. In 2019, apart from India, the company expanded its market in countries such as UAE, US, UK, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. To form the Confederation of Hospitality, Technology and Tourism Industry (CHATT) the company collaborated with other travel companies such as Oyo Rooms, Airbnb, and Yatra in 2021.

Film Production

Rikant Pittie made his debut as a film producer with the film Mumbai 125 KM 3D (2014).

Some other films which his company produced were Madaari (2016), Guest iin London (2017), Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019), and Taish (2020).

Philanthropy

In 2018, his company EaseMyTrip contributed Rs.10 lakh to the people in Kerela whose lives were affected during the Kerela floods. The company provided 550 oxygen concentrators and gave a full refund for ticket cancellation during the second wave of Covid-19.

Controversy

Trademark Infringement Case against EaseMyTrip

In 2019, the travel company MakeMy Trip filed a case against EaseMyTrip for trademark violation in the Delhi High Court. They accused EaseMyTrip of using the brand name “makemytrip” as a Google AdWord to increase its ranking.
