Following their marriage, Indrani‘s daughter, Vidhie Khanna, from a previous marriage, adopted the Mukerjea name and began living with them.

Career
After completing his formal education, Peter Mukerjea began his career in marketing with Heinz and Storehouse plc in the UK. Later, he worked in different roles with Ogilvy & Mather and DDB Needham across New Delhi, London, and Hong Kong.
In 1993, he joined STAR TV as a Sales Director in Hong Kong. Later, he moved to Mumbai from Hong Kong to establish STAR TV’s advertising sales division in India. By 1999, he became CEO of STAR India and worked in the position for 8 years.
In 2007, he resigned from STAR India and joined his wife’s company, INX Media (now 9X Media) as a chief strategy officer and worked there until 2009.
In 2015, he became an angel investor at Kratos, an on-demand digital advertisement platform.

Controversy
Sheena Bora Murder Case
Peter Mukerjea was questioned by Mumbai Police in 2015 regarding the murder of Sheena Bora, his stepdaughter. He claimed to be in Rome during the alleged murder. Later, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him for his involvement in the conspiracy. Facts/Trivia
- In 2015, while the Sheena Bora Murder Case was being investigated, Peter disclosed that Indrani Mukerjea did not approve of Rahul Mukerjea’s relationship with Sheena. He told the police that Indrani presented Sheena to him as her sister. Peter was shocked to learn after Sheena’s murder that she was Indrani’s daughter.
