Sheena Das Bora was born on Wednesday, 11 February 1987 (age 25 years; at the time of death) in Shillong, Meghalaya. Her zodiac sign was Aquarius. She did her schooling at Disneyland High School in Guwahati.

In 1990, her mother, Indrani, shifted to Kolkata and left Sheena and her younger brother in Guwahati with their grandparents.

While in Kolkata, her mother, Indrani Mukerjea, married Sanjeev Khanna, and they had a daughter named Vidhie, but they divorced in 2002. In 2002, her mother married Peter Mukerjea. Rahul Mukerjea and Rabin Mukerjea are her stepbrothers.

Indrani Mukerjea, upon learning about Sheena’s relationship, sent her to Delhi in 2009, where Sheena faced health issues and received visits from her mother and ex-boyfriend. Career

At the end of 2009, she started working as a management trainee at Reliance Infrastructure. In 2011, Sheena joined Mumbai Metro One as an assistant manager.

Sheena Bora Disappearance

On 24 April 2012, Sheena Bora took leave and submitted her resignation in writing to her employers. The same day Rahul Mukerjea received a breakup text from Sheena’s phone. Indrani Mukerjea claimed that Sheena went to the United States for studies, so no missing person report was filed. Sheena was not seen after 24 April 2012.

At Rahul’s request, Mumbai Police went to Indrani’s Worli home, but her house staff said that Indrani was abroad. When she returned, Indrani told police that Rahul was trying to stalk Sheena, who had moved to the US to avoid him.

Death

She was murdered and dumped in the Raigad forests of Mumbai on 24 April 2012, determining that the cause of death was homicide due to strangulation. In May 2012, the police discovered partially burned remains of a woman’s body close to a farmhouse in Lonavala. ^[5]Firstpost

Sheena Bora Murder Case

In 2015, four months before Indrani Mukerjea‘s arrest, Mumbai Police began keeping watch on her following a tip-off. This led to the arrest of her driver, Shyamvar Pinturam Rai, for possessing illegal weapons on 21 August 2015. During interrogation, Rai disclosed details of Sheena’s murder.

In August 2015, Sheena Bora’s brother Mikhail revealed that Sheena was Indrani’s daughter, not her sister.

According to Mumbai Police’s FIR, Rai provided a detailed account of the murder, alleging Indrani planned it with her ex-husband, Sanjeev Khanna. They allegedly strangled Sheena in Bandra, later disposing of her body in Raigad. ^[6]Firstpost

Murder Case Arrests

On 25 August 2015, Mumbai Police arrested Indrani Mukerjea for allegedly murdering Sheena. ^[7]The Telegraph She was charged with murder, disposing of evidence, kidnapping, and conspiracy and taken to court, where she was remanded in police custody.

The next day, on 26 August 2015, Indrani’s ex-husband, Sanjeev Khanna, was arrested in Kolkata and faced similar charges in the case. ^[8]The Indian Express

On 19 November 2015, Peter Mukerjea was arrested for his alleged involvement in Sheena Bora’s murder. He was also accused of diverting his company’s funds into Sheena’s bank account in Singapore. ^[9]The Indian Express

• Reportedly, Sheena Bora was murdered inside a hired car.

• On 28 August 2015, Sheena Bora’s skeletal remains were recovered in Pen tehsil of Raigad district in Maharashtra.

• After human remains were discovered in Raigad, the police admitted their casual approach to the discovery of a burnt body a month after Sheena’s presumed murder in 2012. As no murder or accidental death case was registered at the time.

• During the police investigations, Mikhail Bora told the police that on 24 April 2012, his mother invited him to her home and drugged him while discussing Sheena’s wedding; feeling dizzy, he fled when Indrani Mukerjea went to get Sheena, stating that their mother intended to harm them both that day, but he escaped.

• Police claimed that Indrani Mukerjea bribed a psychiatrist in Mumbai to create a fake certificate stating that her son Mikhail was mentally unstable. Police believe she intended to use the certificate to stop Mikhail from searching for his sister Sheena.
