Riya Sen Dev Varma is the daughter of famous actress Moon Moon Sen and granddaughter of the yesteryear star Suchitra Sen. Raima Sen is her sister. Suchitra Sen was an established Bengali and Hindi film actress. Riya began her career in the glamour world as a child artist in 1991 in the movie, Vishkanya as young Nishi. She shot to fame with a low-budget Bollywood movie Style which released in 2001. Riya Sen is also well-known for her roles in the movies, Jhankaar Beats and Shaadi No. 1. She was recognised as a model at the age of 16. Besides being an actress, she has appeared as a model in the commercials for many popular brands. Moreover, Riya Sen is also a philanthropist and raised awareness for AIDS.

Moon Moon Sen is a TMC (Trinamool Congress) member of Parliament from Bankura, West Bengal constituency. Her father belongs to the royal family of Tripura. Raima Sen is her sister.

Riya Sen completed her schooling from Loreto House, Kolkata and graduation from Rani Birla Girls’ College, Kolkata. Riya also is a certified fashion designer and did a Course in Fashion Designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. Riya Sen made her first on-screen appearance in 1991 as a child artist in the Bollywood film Vishkanya as Young Nishi. Riya Sen has worked in diverse cinema from Hindi to Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, English, Telugu, and Oriya.
