Pavan Ahluwalia

Pavan Ahluwalia is an Indian investment manager who is the founder and managing director of Laburnum Capital, an India-based investment manager. He is the son of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, an Indian economist and former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India.

Pavan Ahluwalia was born on Tuesday, 15 November 1977 (age 45 years; as of 2022) in Washington, D.C., United States. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. Pavan Ahluwalia’s father, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, is an Indian economist who served as the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India from 6 July 2004 to 26 May 2014. His mother, Isher Judge Ahluwalia, was an Indian economist, public policy researcher, and professor. Isher Ahluwalia died on 26 September 2020 after a 10-month battle with brain cancer. Pavan has a younger brother, Aman Ahluwalia, who is a lawyer.

Pavan Ahluwalia got married to Sarah Jacob, an Indian journalist and news editor, on 28 March 2013 after dating her for a few years. Many prominent politicians attended their wedding reception. Career

Pavan Ahluwalia started his career in August 1999 as a consultant in the research department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, District of Columbia, United States. While working there, he authored a paper modelling “contagion” in currency markets. He worked there for around 8 months and resigned from his position in the firm. In October 2000, he joined McKinsey & Company in New York as a business analyst. As a part of his job duties, Pavan advised management teams on corporate strategy in New York and Mumbai. He worked in the company for around two years. Pavan started working as an associate at Old Lane Partners in New York, United States, in September 2006. At the firm, he covered India and parts of non-Japan Asia for a $5 billion hedge fund. On 19 August 2009, Pavan founded Laburnum Capital Advisors Private Limited, an investment management firm in Delhi. He is also the managing director of the firm.
