Mithun Manjunath started playing badminton when he was five years old after seeing his parents play the game as a pastime. He then attended a beginner’s camp in Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. Mithun came from a family that didn’t have a lot of money and trained under Coach Shiva Prakash, who did not demand any fee from them. Mithun trains at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) in Bengaluru, Karnataka under Coach Sagar Chopda. In 2023, Mithun was bought by the Chennai Superstarz for Rs. 14.5 lakhs at the Grand Prix Badminton League’s (GBPL) player auction. Mithun and his teammates, consisting of Prannoy H. S., Lakshya Sen, Srikanth Kidambi, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Arjun M. R., Dhruv Kapila, and Rohan Kapoor won the silver medal at the men’s team event during the 19th Asian Games.
As of 2023, Mithun has won one title in the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour, one title and two runners-up at the BWF International Challenge/Series. He also became the Indian National Badminton Champion in the men’s singles (seniors) category.
