Manasi Joshi Roy is an Indian film and television actress. She is the sister of Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi. She has appeared in the Bollywood film Student of the Year 2. She was India’s first Star Movies host on Bol Bollywood.

Manasi Joshi Roy was born on Monday, 15 April 1968 (age 55 years; as of 2023) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her zodiac sign is Aries. Her ancestors hail from Patan, Gujarat. She did her schooling at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, Mumbai. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Mithibai College, Mumbai. During childhood, Manasi used to spend most of her time in theatres, helping her uncle and father to prepare for their shows. she was inspired by her father and decided to become an actor.

Theatre

During her college days, Manasi Joshi Roy began her theatre career with a Gujarati play, which was directed by her father, Arvind Joshi. She has performed in Arvind’s plays, which explored father-daughter relationships. She has acted in many plays like Eni Sugandhno Dariyo, and Tamari Neha, and I ought to be in the pictures. She played the lead female part in the Hindi version of the play All The Best (1992), produced by Feroz Abbas Khan. The play turned out to be a smash hit and was staged for the next 8 years. Television

Manasi made her television debut with the TV show Gaatha on Star Plus. She has played many roles including Sudha in Saaya (1998–1999) on Sony TV, Chandni “Uparwali” in Gharwali Uparwali (2000–2003) on Star Plus, and Madhuri Pankaj Sharma in Dhhai Kilo Prem (2017) on Star Plus. In 1997, Manasi played an episodic role as Sheela Ramani in Saturday Suspense (1997), a suspense thriller series, on Zee TV.  She has also hosted several television shows like Entertainment Now and Tara Rum Pum Pum.

Manasi made her Bollywood debut with the film Just Married in 2007. She has appeared in many short films like Ek Din Achanak, Cute Meeta Love, and Love Story. She also appeared in the Bollywood film, Student of the Year 2.

Manasi Joshi Roy started modelling after her graduation from college, she has modelled for over 100 commercials including Hair & Care, Close-Up, Surf, Kellogs, and Ponds.

Producer

Manasi, along with Rohit Roy, have served as executive producers on three short films, Rice Plate, Gubbare, and Puranmaashi. She has also produced nine short films for Zoom TV and Behind the Scenes for the singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Manasi owns a production house, Magicworks, under which she produced a feature film Pankh with Whitefeather Films & 3 short films for Dus Kahaniyaan by Sanjay Gupta.
