Dhruv Kapila started playing badminton when he was eight years old. He was sent to the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in 2011 when he was ten, where he trained under Coach Pullela Gopichand. He trained in the academy year-round and met his family once a year. He has won 3 runners-up at the BWF (Badminton World Federation) Junior International Challenges. As of 2023, Dhruv has won 2 titles and 3 runners-up at the BWF International Challenge/Series and 1 title at the BWF World Tour. Dhruv was an integral part of the India team’s victory in the 2022 Thomas Cup.
In 2022, IOS Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. on-boarded Dhruv on their team to manage his requirements so Dhruv could focus on training. IOS Sports is a sports marketing and talent management company. Dhruv was a part of the team that won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games with teammates Prannoy H. S., Lakshya Sen.
