Krishnaprasad Sai Pratheek was born on Wednesday, 3 May 2000 (age 23 years; as of 2024) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He attended Jain (Deemed to be University) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where he studied Commerce.

Career

K. Sai Pratheek got into sports when he was nine years old. he started by playing football and shifted to badminton after a knee injury. Pratheek started badminton training at the ITI Sports Club. He then started training at the I-Sports (Innovative Sports) badminton school in Bengaluru Karnataka, under Coach Krishna Kumar. In an interview, Pratheek revealed that he started training every day at 4: 30 in the morning at the Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru along with his coach B. N. Sudhakar. He then does a two-hour training session at 10:30 in the morning and another one in the evening. He went on to say that he focussed on academics in between his training. ^[1]The Times of India

As of 2023, Pratheek has won one runner-up at the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour along with three titles and five runners-up at the BWF International Challenge/Series. In 2022, the Mandya Bulls bought Pratheek for Rs. 3.5 lakhs at the Grand Prix Badminton League (GPBL) auctions. ^[2]The Bridge However, the Mandya Bulls team lost in the final round of the GPBL. Pratheek was a part of the Indian team that won the men’s team event at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. His teammates were Prannoy H. S., Lakshya Sen. Srikanth Kidambi, Mithun Manjunath, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Arjun M. R., Dhruv Kapila, and Rohan Kapoor.

As of 2023, Pratheek is ranked World No. 124 in the men’s doubles category, and World No. 72 in the mixed doubles category.
