Jonathan Sheindlin was born in 1967 (age 56 years; as of 2023) in New York City, New York, United States of America. In 1993, Jonathan graduated from the New York Medical College. He underwent his first residency programme at Mount Sinai Morningside Ophthalmology from 1994 – 1997, and his fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Vitreoretinal Surgery from 1997 – 1999. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan. He completed his training at Harvard Medical School. Controversies

Kiren Ahmed v. New York City Health

In May 2011, Kiran Ahmed filed a complaint against New York City Health Hospitals Corporation, Coney Island Hospital, Shandanu Rastogi, Soofia Rubbani, Jonathan Sheindlin, and Mark Harooni. The complainant sued them for medical malpractice, claiming that they didn’t provide proper care for an infant’s retinal disorder, leading to retinopathy of prematurity and detached retinas. The defendants asked the court to dismiss the case for which the court asked the defendants to prove that the plaintiff wasn’t harmed by any mistakes. In response, the complainant filed an unsupported expert affidavit, which didn’t prove anything substantial. As a result, the court granted the defendant’s motions for summary judgment, dismissing the case against them. ^[5]Casetext
