Hayma Malini

Hayma Malini is a Singaporean radio presenter and TV producer. She is the wife of the Singaporean singer Yugendran Vasudevan, who is the son of Malaysia Vasudevan, a famous Tamil playback singer and actor of Malaysian origin.

Husband & Children

In 1999, Yugendran performed at the launch of a Tamil radio station in Sri Lanka named ‘Swarna Oli,’ where he met Hayma Malini. On 29 November 1999, she got married to Yugendran, a Singaporean actor, singer, host, and music director. In 2023, her husband, Yugendran, participated in the Tamil version of the reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ season 7, which aired on Star Vijay and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

The couple has three sons named Visashan Naarayan Yugendran, Kishan Naarayan Yugendran, and Darshan Naarayan Yugendran.

Career

In 1993, she began to work at Singapore Airlines; however, she left her job in 1994. In 1999, she moved to Sri Lanka and began to work at Colombo Communications.

Beauty Pageants

Hayma Malini has earned multiple beauty pageant titles in Singapore and also represented Singapore in international pageants. In 1994, she won the title of Miss Singapore Intercontinental and represented Singapore in Germany. She has won many titles including Miss Model (1995) and Miss Singapore Tourism (1997) and has represented Singapore in many countries such as Turkey, Macau, and USA. She participated in the Mrs. Singapore Globe 2007 held in America.

Radio Presenter & Host

She worked as an RJ for Oli 96.8FM. She has won the title of Singapore Channel’s most favourite host for three consecutive years. She is a well-known host on Star Vijay TV, where she hosted the Tamil reality singing competition ‘Super Singer’ in 2009.

In the same year, she hosted another Tamil reality TV show ‘En Aasai Unnoduthan’ on Jaya TV. She has also hosted many TV shows on Kalaingar TV and Sun TV.

TV Producer

Hayma Malini and Yugendran founded two companies named ‘Rambutan Productions’ in India and ‘Rambutan Media Works’ in Singapore. Through these companies, they have produced numerous television programs for various countries, including India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Some of the Singaporean TV shows produced by them under Rambutan Media Works include ‘Endrendrum Punnagai,’ ‘Sollathan Ninaikirain’ (a talk show), and ‘Vidumurai Vasantham’ (a holiday variety program).

Controversy

In 2018, after award-winning singer Chinmayi alleged that lyricist  Vairamuthu sexually harassed her, Hayma Malini also revealed the incident when Vairamuthu allegedly sexually harassed her. Hayma Malini talked about her harassment in a Facebook post, which read,

When I was in Sun Music, I have personally witnessed Vairamuthu trying to get fresh with one of the young presenters… And I have spoken about him in many stages more than 10 years ago! I salute Chinmayi for being the voice of many voiceless! Time for some introspection by the industry…(sic).” [2]India Today
