Career

DJing

Rink started her career as a DJ in 2005. She started playing at various clubs. She had launched a Bollywood music remix album named ‘Lady Architect’ in 2008 and in 2011, she released the album named ‘Desi Diva DJ Rink.’

She worked with big labels like Saregama and Sony Music. She played on the sets of Sony’s Extra Innings during the IPL (Indian Premier League), where she made many cricketers dance on her beats.

Rink was working in a marketing firm, and left the job to become a DJ.

In an interview, she said that she played for the first time when she was in a party and asked the DJ to play a song. He denied and asked Rink to play a song herself. This was the first time she played at a party. She further said in the interview,

I loved collecting music from every DJ that I met, and soon had a huge collection of Bollywood songs. That’s when I decided to turn a DJ.”

She credits her managing field for the start of her career. She took training under the famous DJ Joe Azeredo and DJ Suketu.

When Rink passed out from the training, many new technologies of DJing were introduced, and to learn these techniques, she took training for sometime in a club.

She also achieved the rank in the top 22 DJs from across India and also became the No. 1 female DJ mixing Bollywood music in 2013.

In an interview, she was asked if the DJ industry was male- oriented, she said,

In 2005, when I joined the world of Djing, male DJs used to stare at me for hours, only to find a fault. But, times have changed and in every metro, you find almost 15 girl DJs. My music is my drug and I get high on this and nothing else. This industry is safe for women, but they need to learn how to project themselves and watch out for the signals they give out.”

She has performed on stage with various actors that include, Sunny Leone, Rannvijay Singh, John Abraham, Karan Grover, Ileana D’cruz, Amrita Rao, Nikhil Chinapa, Meet Bros, Nucleya.
