Dino James was born on Friday, 27 September 1991 ^[1]Twitter – Dino James (age 31 years; as of 2022) in the Ghoradongri village, Sarni, Betul district, Madhya Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Libra. He did his schooling at a school near his village and graduation in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He was not interested in studies and wanted to become an actor. He left home and came to Bombay at the age of 18 years.

Actor

After arriving in Nagpur, Dino enrolled in acting classes to learn acting. His acting skills improved, and he started working in an advertising agency and worked in a few ads. He also worked with the actor and director, Pradeep Sarkar; however, he was not getting prominent roles and did many minor roles or guest appearances in TV shows. He worked different types of jobs including as a fitness trainer and a model to support himself; however, after spending 8 years in Mumbai, he decided to return home as he was unsure about his future and could not find any job.

Rapper

He came back to his home in Ghoradongri in 2010 and started helping his father with his work; however, he again came back to Bombay in 2012. His friends told him that his writing skills were better than his acting skills; however, he did not pay attention to them and kept on looking for work. Dino was not getting any prominent work and was unsure about his future as an actor. He met a person on the beach who was playing the guitar and singing a self-composed song. Dino had a word with that person, and he made up his mind about writing songs and becoming a rapper. His first song was ‘Loser,’ which was released on the BeingIndian channel on 17 October 2016. He released another song ‘Girlfriend’ on his own YouTube channel named Dino James on 19 October 2016. These songs made him popular among the youth, and he launched various songs based on his life experiences like Yaadein, Unstoppable, Hancock, and Maa; a few of these songs were released under Sony Music India. In February 2022, he signed with Def Jam Recordings India, and on 25 May 2022, his debut album, D, came out under Def Jam Recordings India. In September 2022, he appeared as the squad boss (mentor) in the rap reality show Hustle 2.0, which aired on MTV.

Controversy

Support for Shubh

In September 2023, Dino James received criticism for showing his support to Indian singer Shubh after Shubh’s concert was cancelled due to his support for Khalistani elements. Shortly after posting an Instagram story, Dino James deleted it and issued an apology. In another Instagram story, he clarified that he wasn’t aware of the specific reasons behind Shubh’s concert cancellation and that his initial post was simply an expression of empathy for a fellow artist. ^[2]Times Now
