Chandra Shekar Dutta aka Channdra Shekhar Dutta was born on Friday, 31 July 1981 (age 42 years; as of 2023) at Ranguni village in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. His zodiac sign is Leo. He was interested in acting since childhood and used to imitate Bollywood actors. He passed the 10th standard in 1998 from Tata DAV School, Sijua with 69.2% marks and the 12th standard in 2000 from the same school with 62.5% marks.
He started acting in theatres when he moved to his maternal Uncle’s home in Bundu, Jharkhand. He studied acting from 2001 to 2003 under the associate professor of the National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, Dinesh Khanna. He passed Bachelor’s in Arts (Hindi) in 2004 from Deoghar Vidyapith, Deoghar with second division. He moved to Delhi in 2005 and pursued a diploma in theatre acting from Shri Ram Centre (SRC) for Performing Arts, New Delhi. He pursued a PG Diploma in Acting from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He moved to Mumbai in 2008 to pursue a career in acting.

Plays/Dramas
While learning acting in SRC, New Delhi and FTII Pune, he acted in about 20 plays with many renowned actors. He also worked in the Song and Drama division of the Indian government in 2005. He won the Best Actor award for the play ‘Assi Behri Alang’ written by Dr Kashi Nath Singh and directed by Suman Kumar. He wrote and directed a play ‘A Rehearsal called Andher Nagari’ which came third in the 9th Ryan International Theatre Festival in 2008. He also acted in the International Screen Writers lab conducted by PAL in 2009 at Matheran, Maharashtra. In 2018, he acted in the play Yakshini directed by Samir Jagot.

He made his debut in Bollywood in 2010 with the film 404: Error Not Found directed by Prawaal Raman.
He acted in 2010 in the film Rakta Charitra as Raja Rao, which starred Suriya, Vivek Oberoi, Radhika Apte, Priyamani, and Abhimanyu Singh and was directed by Ram Gopal Varma; he also acted in Rakta Charitra 2. He acted in the film Ram-Leela (2013) as Velji, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Richa Chadha and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
He worked as a narrator in the film Kaafiron Ki Namaaz (2013) directed by Ram Ramesh Sharma. He played the role of Death Salesman in the film Boichek (2017) directed by Santosh Sivan.
