Adithi Kalkunte was born in Bangalore, Karnataka. Every Thursday, individuals from various professions would visit the school and engage with the students. One day, when she was in seventh grade, someone visited her school and asked her to give a reaction to seeing Michael Jackson. Her response impressed her friends and classmates, and she gained popularity in school. At this moment, she realized her ability to make people laugh through her acting. She wanted to become an actor upon growing up, but her parents wanted her to focus on her studies. She obeyed them and pursued her dreams after finishing school.

She worked in a bank for a year after completing her graduation. When she began her post-graduation studies, she had the opportunity to explore acting through her involvement in theatre, which was a part of her course. In her theatre class, she encountered the same person who had approached her in school for the gig. They both recognized each other. Theatre became a significant subject for her during college, and she actively participated in numerous plays, directed productions, and even made her thesis on theatre. After completing her studies, she joined a theatre group called ‘Version One Dot Oh!’ and worked there for three years. However, one of her friends suggested that she should consider moving to Mumbai and pursue acting there. After staying in Bangalore for 15 years, she made the decision to move to Mumbai because she did not fit the typical image of an actress that the Kannada industry was seeking. However, life in Mumbai was far from easy for her. In an interview, she mentioned the challenges of getting admission into a theatre group in Mumbai without any recommendations. Initially, she struggled to find work opportunities, leading to financial difficulties. Despite these hardships, she remained determined and focused on her acting career, without having a backup plan. The acting was her sole passion.
