Rajkumar Kohli

Rajkumar Kohli was an Indian filmmaker who directed and produced many Hindi and Punjabi films. He was known for making multi-actor projects such as Nagin, Raaj Tilak, and Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani. He passed away due to a cardiac arrest in November 2023 in Mumbai.

Rajkumar Kohli was born in Lahore, Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan). As per one source, he was born on Sunday, 14 September 1930 (age 93 years; at the time of death), and as per another source, he was born on Friday, 14 September 1928 (age 95 years; at the time of death). His zodiac sign is Virgo. He moved to India during the partition of India in 1947, and at a young age, he started working in films in the Punjabi film industry. He later pursued a career as a filmmaker in Bollywood.

He had a son named Rajnish Kohli (also known as Gogi Kohli) who got paralysed at the age of 14 years due to an accident and died in April 2021 at the age of 44 years. [1]Amar Ujala His younger son, Armaan Kohli, is a Bollywood actor and also appeared in Bigg Boss Season 7 in 2013.

Punjabi

His debut Punjabi film as a producer was Sapni in 1963. He later produced many Punjabi films such as Pind Di Kurhi in 1963, Main Jatti Punjab Di in 1964, and Dulla Bhatti in 1966.

Hindi

His debut Bollywood film as a producer was Lootera in 1965. In 1973, he made his Bollywood debut by directing the film Kahani Hum Sab Ki.

He later directed many Hindi films such as Nagin in 1976, Jaani Dushman in 1979, Badle Ki Aag in 1982, Naukar Biwi Ka in 1983, Raaj Tilak in 1984, and Pati Patni Aur Tawaif in 1990.

He often made multi-actors starrer films with Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, and Anita Raj.

In 1992, he introduced his son with the film Virodhi which did not do well at the box office. In 2002, he directed his last film Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani which featured many actors including Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Aftab Shivdasani, Aditya Pancholi, Sharad Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Rambha, Kiran Rathod, and Armaan Kohli.

Death

Rajkumar Kohli passed away on the morning of 24 November 2023 in Mumbai. Armaan Kohli’s friend and publicist Vijay Grover said that Rajkumar Kohli went for a bath and did not come out of the bathroom for a long time.

When Armaan broke the door, he found Rajkumar unconscious and rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him dead due to cardiac arrest. His funeral was done on the evening of 24 November 2023.
