In 1985, Ashok Vaswani joined AF Ferguson Enterprises in Virginia, United States, as its Management Consultant and worked there till 1987. He then joined Citigroup as a Division Executive in Turkey, the Middle East, and Africa in June 1999, overseeing various country and regional businesses. Later, in November 2000, he took on the role of Marketing Director at its CEMEA branch. Ashok Vaswani then held the position of CEO at Citigroup Asia Pacific and was also a Member of the Citigroup Global Operating and Management Committees. From June 2007 to February 2010, Ashok Vaswani served as a partner at Brysam Global Partners in New York. Later, in April 2012, he became the Chairman of the Retail Committee at the British Bankers’ Association and held the position until November 2013.

In October 2010, he became part of Barclays Bank and held various CEO positions within the bank until April 2019 including the role of Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Bank, UK. Throughout his tenure at Barclays, he showcased skills in developing and growing worldwide businesses, guiding effective teams, establishing significant partnerships, leveraging advanced technology, and achieving substantial financial growth with a clear business vision. Ashok Vaswani started working as a non-executive director at LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) in June 2021. Then, in July 2022, he took on the role of president at Pagaya Technologies Limited, an AI company based in the United States and Israel. In November 2023, the Board of Directors appointed Ashok Vaswani as a Director, Managing Director, and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited. He was also designated as a key managerial personnel. His three-year term commenced on 1 January 2023, following approval from the RBI. With over three decades of experience in the banking sector, Ashok Vaswani joined Kotak Mahindra Bank after his successful tenure in the industry.
