Vinay was born on 5 June 1979 (age 43 years as of 2022). His zodiac sign is Gemini. Vinay was born and raised in Bangalore, India. Vinay went to Bishop Cotton Boys’ School in Bangalore for his primary school education. He moved to Singapore in 1992 where he studied at the Dover Court International School. Vinay returned to India for high school, starting at Bangalore International School, and completing it at Mallya Aditi International School. While pursuing his studies, he always desired to join the family business which has been in retail for three generations. This desire pushed him to study entrepreneurship so he could learn the underlying principles of starting and running a successful business. He soon after joined the Herbert School of Business at the University of Miami in 2002, wherein he acquired a Bachelor’s in Business Management and a double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. In 2004, Vinay moved back to Bangalore from Miami and joined his family business, with a clear vision to establish Soch as one of the leading ethnic wear brands in the country.

Vinay Chatlani comes from a family which has a strong retail background over several generations. Vinay’s father Manohar Chatlani is a well-known businessman and philanthropist with over 40 years of experience in retail. Vinay’s mother, Sobha Chatlani, is the brilliant mind behind Soch and still serves as its creative consultant. Sandeep Chatlani, Vinay’s brother is also one of the Directors at Soch and is closely involved in the business.

A graduate of the University of Miami with a major in entrepreneurship and a minor in marketing, Vinay kick-started his career in 2002 by setting up a promotions company along with his friends targeting some of the most exclusive restaurants, bars, lounges and nightclubs in Miami. In a couple of years, the company was already one of the most successful promotions companies in the city. However, his heart was set to join the family’s business. In 2004, Vinay moved to Bangalore from Miami with a vision to establish Soch as one of the leading ethnic wear brands in the country.
With the constant endeavour to expand the business, product profile and consumer reach, Vinay’s contributions are recognized as instrumental in establishing Soch as one of the most loved women’s ethnic wear brands in the country. He has been actively involved in strategizing, conceptualising, business development and branding activities for Soch.
Today, the brand enjoys its leadership and is by far one of the leading ethnic wear retail chains in the country. Soch has a retail presence across 60 cities with over 150 stores in India. Under his leadership, the company has grown to employ over 1400 people.
Vinay’s passions and the Soch experience also drove him to start a successful new company specialising in end-to-end retail, Office, and Residential interior design and execution. His venture also provides end-to-end experience solutions, especially revolving around digital displays, content creation, and other tech-driven initiatives.

- Vinay loves all things gadgets and tech, especially around the productivity space. He said,
If I do anything repeatedly that can be automated or done faster, I need to know about it. I am currently toying with the idea of bringing productivity solutions to the corporate world” he said in one of his recent interviews.
- Vinay also loves travelling as it inspires him to do things he never thought he would do. He believes in travelling like a local and partakes in authentic experiences very intrinsic to the place.
- Interior Design has long been a passion of his. He designed his home which elevates the notion of elegant modern living and fosters physical and mental well-being for him. He even started a company in which one of the verticals handles design and execution for spaces.
