Srinivasa Reddy was born as Yaramala Srinivasa Reddy [1]Instagram – Yaramala Srinivasa Reddy on Friday, 23 February 1973 (age 51 years; as of 2024) in Khammam, Andhra Pradesh (now Khammam, Telangana). He did his schooling at National High School and Shirisha Vidya Niketan High School in Telangana.

Film

Telugu

Srinivasa Reddy made his debut as an actor with the Telugu film ‘Ishtam’ (2001) in which he played the supporting role of Ravi. In 2002, he appeared in a supporting role in the film ‘Idiot,’ starring Ravi Teja. His performance as Suri Babu in the film ‘Venky’ (2004) received huge appreciation from the audience.

He played his first lead role as Sreenivas in the film ‘Geethanjali’ (2014).

In 2018, he played the lead role of Varun in the ‘Jamba Lakidi Pamba,’ opposite Siddhi Idnani. He also co-produced the film.

In 2019, he appeared in the film ‘Bhagyanagara Veedullo Gamattu’ in which he played the role of Srinu. He also worked as a director and co-producer in the film. He has acted in various films including ‘Roommates’ (2006), ‘Ready’ (2008), ‘Rama Rama Krishna Krishna’ (2010), ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ (2013), ‘Anando Brahma’ (2017), ‘Mugguru Monagallu’ (2021) and ‘Waltair Veerayya’ (2023).

Tamil

He made his debut in the Tamil film industry in 2012 with the film ‘Naan Ee,’ which was simultaneously filmed in the Telugu language under the title ‘Eega.’

Television

Srinivasa Reddy made his television debut with the TV show ‘Amrutham’ (2002) in which he made several episodic appearances in different roles. The show was aired on Gemini TV. In 2018, he made a guest appearance in the TV reality show Bigg Boss Telugu Season 2, on Star Maa.

Director

Besides acting, Srivasa Reddy also directed the films ‘Damarukam’ (2012) and ‘Bhagyanagara Veedullo Gamattu’ (2019).

Award

Srinivasa won the Best Comedian (Telugu) Award at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) for the film ‘Karthikeya 2’ in September 2023. The event was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE.

Facts/Trivia

  • In an interview, he revealed the reason behind taking comic roles in the film. He said that in his initial films, he was given minuscule roles by the directors. Therefore, he later decided to play comic roles in films to make his name in the film industry. While talking about it in the interview, he said,

    They asked me to hold books, walk this side, look at the girl, walk that side and alight from the steps. I felt this was not what I was looking for in movies. That I made it finally is a different matter. Audience recognize you better if you are a comedian or a villain.”

  • In an interview, he revealed that it took him many years to establish himself in the film industry. He said,

    It takes at least five to ten years in the industry to settle down, you must keep hitting the fruit on the branch innumerable times..chances are that you will get it the fiftieth time.”

  • Reportedly, in 2018, rumours circulated about a clash between Srinivasa Reddy and Jr NTR, after Reddy made some comments when Jr NTR had an accident. Later, Reddy shared a photo on the internet with Jr NTR from the shooting of the film ‘Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava’ (2018), dispelling the rumours about the clash between them.
