Sobhita Dhulipala is an Indian actress and model. She works in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu film industries. She was crowned first runner-up at Femina Miss India 2013. She is known for playing the lead role of Tara Khanna in the Amazon Prime Video drama series Made in Heaven (2019–2023).

Sobhita Dhulipala was born on Sunday, 31 May 1992 (age 32 years; as of 2024) in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her zodiac sign is Gemini.

Her family moved to Visakhapatnam when she was 3. From Class 3 to 10, she studied at Little Angels School, Visakhapatnam. Thereafter, she attended Visakha Valley School in Visakhapatnam. In 2010, she moved to Mumbai after completing Class 12. In an interview, she said when she was young, she was focused on her studies and never thought about becoming an actor. She grew up admiring economists like Kaushik Basu and Amartya Sen. She was also into literature and wanted to become a writer. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in commerce at  H.R. College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai. ^[1]The Hindu Towards the end of her third year in college, Dhulipala auditioned for the Femina Miss India pageant when her friend, who was interning at the pageant’s office, asked her to give it a try. Beauty Pageants and Modelling

Sobhita Dhulipala began her pageantry career in 2010 when she participated in the Navy Queen Ball pageant. In 2013, she competed in the national beauty pageant Femina Miss India. First, she won Pond’s Femina Miss India Bangalore 2013. During the sub-contests, she won the title of Miss Adventurous.

Then, she was crowned Femina Miss India South. At the Femina Miss India 2013 competition, she won the titles of ‘iTimes Femina Miss Digital Diva’ and ‘Femina Miss Talented’ during the sub contests. She became the first runner-up at the Femina Miss India 2013.

Thereafter, Sobhita represented India at the Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines. During the sub-contents at Miss Earth, she won the titles of Miss Photogenic, Miss Eco Beauty, and Miss Ever Bilena.

Thereafter, she started working as a model and was featured in advertisements for various renowned brands.

In 2014, she was featured in the Kingfisher Calendar.

She has modelled at many famous events, such as Lakme Fashion Week 2019.

In 2016, Sobhita Dhulipala made her Hindi film debut with Raman Raghav 2.0 in which she played the role of Smrutika Naidu. She was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Best Supporting Performance at the 2016 Cannes and the Most Promising Newcomer – Female at the 2018 Screen Awards for the role.

She signed a three-film deal with Phantom Films in July 2016. In 2017, she played the role of Vinnie in the comedy-drama film Chef. She played Tara in the black comedy film Kaalakaandi (2018) and Maya Verma in the mystery-thriller film The Body (2019). She appeared in Anurag Kashyap’s anthology horror film Ghost Stories (2020) in which she played the role of Neha. She gained attention for a scene in the film where she eats a fetus after having a miscarriage. She played the role of Pramoda Reddy in Major (2022), a bilingual action film also released in Telugu.

In 2018, she made her Telugu debut with the film Goodachari in which she played the role of Sameera Rao/Sameera Sheikh.

In 2019, Sobhita gained popularity for playing the lead role of a wedding planner named Tara Khanna in the Hindi web series Made in Heaven, which streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Dhulipala again played Tara in the second season of Made In Heaven.

In the same year, she played the role of Isha Khanna in the spy thriller web series Bard of Blood on Netflix. In 2023, she appeared in the crime thriller series The Night Manager as Kaveri Dixit. The show streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

• During an interview, Sobhita said that she was afraid that she might fail her Class 9 history exam.

• When she was in Little Angels School, she won second prize in the essay writing competition. Recalling the same, in an interview, she said, “That prize was the beginning of my winning streak.”

• While she was attending the Little Angels School, a boy named Prem had a crush on her. He used to sing the song ‘Feel My Love’ from the film Arya (2004) every time she was around. He used to ride his bicycle around her in circles on the school ground.

  Earlier, I would never focus on how I looked because I thought I was just ‘ok’. So my focus was on being well-read, good in studies, school captain. My personality depended on what I read, not on some magical genetic thing. “In Miss India, so much was about how you looked. These are the things I judged as a child. So I felt cornered because I was doing the same things. I didn’t feel good in my heart.”

• In 2018, Mahesh Babu posted a tweet, appreciating Sobhita for her performance in the film Goodachari. Sobhita replied to the tweet and wrote “Thank you!”. Mahesh Babu’s fans got upset with Sobhita’s reply and started trolling her. They felt she should respect the senior actor more and not just reply with a simple ‘Thank you.’

• A complaint was registered against Anurag Kashyap for the graphic scene from Ghost Stories (2020) in which Neha eats a fetus after having a miscarriage. The complainant said, “if the creators wished to add such a scene, there should have been a trigger warning for women who have gone through the trauma of miscarriages.”
