Simran Shaikh was born in Azad Nagar in Dharavi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. According to one source, she was born on Saturday, 12 January 2002 (age 21 years; as of 2023) [1]NDTV, and according to another source, she was born on Sunday, 1 December 2002 (age 20 years; as of 2022) [2]Cricbuzz. She developed an interest in cricket while growing up and played cricket in her locality with boys. When she was 13 years old, she started playing tennis ball tournaments and won many trophies. At the of 15, she started training at Rumde Cricket Academy, Cross Maidan under the coach Ajay Yadav and joined United Club, where she trained under Sanjay Gaitonde. She later attended the training camp at Shivaji Park and got selected for the Mumbai Under-19 team.

She started her career as a player for the Mumbai Under-19 team. She was later selected for the Mumbai Senior team. In a match against Sikkim in the Senior Women’s T20 tournament 2021-22, she scored 34 runs off 17 balls. In a match of the 2022-23 Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Tournament, she played for the West Zone team and scored 30 runs off 24 balls against the North-East Zone. In the 2022-23 President’s Cup T20 women’s league, she played for Mumbai Thunders and scored 74 runs off 54 balls in a match against Mumbai Warriors. She has played for the India C team in the 2022-23 Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy. In a match against Rajasthan, she scored 97 runs off 86 balls. In the 2023 auction for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), she was acquired by the UP Warriors franchise for the base price of Rs 10 lakhs.

- Her coach Ajay Yadav fondly calls her Rocket as she is a very agile fielder at the point and the cover region. He never charged her any fees and allowed her to hone her skills at the nets and in the ground under his tutelage.
