Tom Hartley is an English cricketer who plays for England in international tournaments and Lancashire in domestic cricket. He became popular on his test debut against India in 2024 as he took seven wickets in the second innings which helped England defeat India.

Domestic

In 2013, he started playing for Ormskirk Cricket Club in the Liverpool Premier League. He played for Lancashire Under-15, Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School, Crosby, and Lancashire Academy in 2015, and Lancashire Under-17 and Marylebone Cricket Club Schools in 2016.

He later represented Lancashire Under-19 and Lancashire Second XI in 2018. He also played in Australia for The Butchers Cricket Club in the Northern Districts Cricket Club tournament in 2018.

He later played for Lancashire in domestic tournaments after signing his first professional contract with them in March 2019 and made his first-class debut on 1 August 2020 in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy and his T20 debut on 27 August 2020 for Lancashire in the 2020 T20 Blast.

In 2023, he extended his contract with Lancashire till the 2026 season. In April 2023, he hit his first fifty in first-class cricket by hitting 73 runs not out in 50 balls which was studded with 7 fours and 5 sixes.

Tom Hartley made his List A debut for England Lions on 15 February 2023 against Sri Lanka A in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

He gained attention for his debut test match on 25 January 2024 against India in Hyderabad, India.

In his first test match, he helped England win the test match by taking his maiden test 5-wicket haul. In the first innings, he scored 23 runs and took 2 wickets for 131 runs and in the second innings, he hit 34 runs and claimed 7 wickets for 62 runs. His first test delivery was hit for a six by Yashasvi Jaiswal, yet he managed to take a fifer to make England winners of his debut test match.

He made his ODI debut on 23 September 2023 against Ireland in Nottingham and scored 12 runs off 9 balls and went wicketless for 48 runs in 10 overs.

In 2021, he was acquired by Manchester Originals for the inaugural season of the 100-ball tournament The Hundred in 2021 for 24 thousand pounds. He was retained by Manchester Originals for Β£75,000 for the 2023 season.
