Saurabh Raj Jain is an Indian actor. He is best known for his role as ‘Lord Krishna’ in the mythological TV series Mahabharat (2013-14). He has also acted in films such as Om Namo Venkatesaya (2017). He has participated in reality TV shows such as Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 (2021).

Saurabh Raj Jain (also spelt Sourabh Raaj Jain) was born on Sunday, 1 December 1985 (age 38 years; as of 2024) in New Delhi, India. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.

He did his schooling at Colonel Satsangi’s Kiran Memorial (CSKM) Public School, New Delhi. When Saurabh was in school, he conducted tuition classes for those in lower grades and charged Rs 500 per student. He pursued a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. He then did an MBA from Symbiosis International University in Pune, Maharashtra.

Parents & Siblings

His father passed away when Saurabh was very young. His mother, Raaj Jain is an advocate who practiced in New Delhi. He has two elder sisters.

Wife & Children

He married his girlfriend, Ridhima Jain, a software engineer turned digital creator and influencer. They met at Ashley Lobo’s dance academy in Noida. They started talking after sharing an autorickshaw after their dance class. The couple dated for two years before getting married in 2010.

They are parents to twins, a boy and a girl born in 2017. His son’s name is Hrishivh and his daughter’s name is Hrishika.

Religion/Religious Views

Saurabh follows Buddhism. In 2013, when asked about his faith, he said,

I don’t worship any one God, I believe in “sabka maalik ek”. I think God is singular and exists everwhere and for everyone.” ^[2]The Times of India

During an interview in 2014, he stated that he had started following Buddhism in 2003.

Career

Television

Saurabh’s acting career began when he got an opportunity to act in the TV serial ‘Remix’ (2004 to 2006). He played the character Amandeep Chadha. He was 19 during the filming of the show and still in college. After the show ended, he took a break to complete his studies.

After completing his studies, he rejoined the entertainment industry. In 2007-08, he appeared in the show Kasamh Se. In 2008 he also acted in the drama television show, Jai Shri Krishna, where he portrayed the role of Lord Vishnu. Saurabh then played the role of Anand in Ekta Kapoor’s TV serial, Parichay (2011). From 2011 to 2014, he acted in the TV show, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev. Here, he played the roles of Lord Vishnu, Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Lord Dattatreya. He became a household name when he played the role of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna in the mythological television show, Mahabharat (2013-14). The makers of ‘Mahabharat’ were so keen to cast him for the role of ‘Lord Krishna’ that they kept Saurabh on hold for a year, by paying him a lump sum amount every month, so that he would not do any other project.

He also acted in other mythological TV serials such as Jai Shri Krishna (2008-2009) as Lord Vishnu and Mahakali – Anth hi Aarambh hai (2017) as Lord Shiva.

Apart from being an actor, he has hosted several TV shows like ‘Savdhaan India – India Fights Back’ (2015), ‘Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti’ (2015-2016), and ‘Mahapuran’ (2016).

Films

He acted in the psychological thriller film, Karma: Crime. Passion. Reincarnation (2008).

In 2015, he got the role of Krish in the Indonesian film Check In Bangkok. In 2017, he got the chance to work in Telugu cinema and played the role of ‘Lord Venkateswara’ in the Telugu film ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya.’

In 2021, he played Hassan Farouqui in the web series, Qubool Hai 2.0.

Reality Television

Saurabh participated in Season 9 of Nach Baliye with his wife Ridhima Jain. The couple were eliminated in Week 13. He also appeared as a guest on the reality show Kitchen Champion 5 (2019). In 2021, he participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi Darr vs Dare (Season 11). He was eliminated from the show.

His fans expressed their sadness over his elimination and accused the show of being biased against Saurabh. They also stated that the tasks issued to Saurabh were “unfair”. After getting eliminated, he stated that he would no longer do any reality shows,

Whereas reality shows definitely give you an adrenaline rush, but I find them more fictional than reality. A lot is in the hands of the makers in this. In this, many times the difference between right and wrong is forgotten, hence my relationship with reality shows ends here.” ^[3]Navbharat Times

In 2021, he appeared in the music video of Deva O Deva sung by Shankar Mahadevan. In 2022, he was in the video for the song Jado Main Tere Kol Si sung by Raj Barman.

Other Work

In 2016 he worked as a Radio Jockey and was the host of the spiritual show ‘Arth’ that aired on 92.7 Big FM.

In 2023, Saurabh took over as the host of Zee News’ DNA (Daily News and Analysis) prime-time news show. The show is called DNA with Sourabh.

Controversies

Identity Thief On Facebook

In 2012, an imposter interacted with his friends and fans under his name on Facebook. The imposter not only used Saurabh’s photos but also used to chat with people who were friends with Saurabh, especially his female friends. He also exchanged numbers and used foul language. Saurabh came to know about the incident through one of his fans. Saurabh informed the authorities of Facebook, after which they took the necessary action.

Legal Action Against Building Constructors

In 2022 Saurabh shared on social media that he had invested in a property in Sunteck City ODC, Goregaon, Mumbai, but didn’t receive possession of the same. Allegedly, the builders had promised that the property would be ready by March 2020 and kept delaying the date by giving many excuses. Saurabh spoke about having spent a lot of time and money on the property. He stated that the building company’s representative changed every month and he never got a proper response from them. He further stated that if calling them out on social media did not work, he would take legal action against the company.
