Rewati Chetri is an Indian model and actress. She has been the title holder of Miss International India 2016.

Rewati Chetri was born on Sunday, 4 July 1993 (age 30 years; as of 2023) in Haflong town located in the state of Assam in India. She attended  St. Agnes’ Convent High School, Haflon, Assam for her primary and secondary education. Later, she got herself enrolled at the Lumding College, Lumding, Assam to pursue her higher education. Rewati earned a bachelor’s degree in laws from NEF Law College, Guwahati, Assam. Rewati was inclined towards acting and modelling since childhood and she use to participate in all the cultural and extracurricular activities of school and colleges.

Career

Beauty Pageant

Rewati Chetri, in 2015, auditioned for the Miss India Femina Miss India 2015 in East India Audition. Her confidence and modelling skills helped her qualify as the Top – 5 as a finalist of Miss India Kolkata. Later, she succeeded to be among the Top-10 finalist in Femina Miss India 2015 pageant but could not make it to the further rounds in competition. During her this pageantry journey, she won ‘Miss Popular’ and ‘Miss Multimedia’ subtitles.

In 2016, Rewati Chetri was crowned Miss Asia at the World Miss University pageant, held in Beijing. She was in the top super six online voted finalists. She also earned the ‘Miss Multimedia’ subtitle because of her strong social media presence. In the same year, she also represented India at the 56th edition of Miss International pageant which held in Tokyo, Japan. During an interview, she was asked about her social media charm that made her win subtitles in various beauty pageants, to which she replied,

This is my third pageant and I have always been elected as ‘Miss Multimedia and Miss Popular’ based on my popularity in social responsibility and it all due to my fellow Indians back home who have always prayed for my success and blessed me with likes, comments and shares.”

Modelling

After achieving a success in beauty pageants, Miss International India 2016 opted to establish a career in modelling. She first walked at Winter Festive 2018 edition of Lakme Fashion Week held from 22 August to 26  August at the St Regis hotel in Mumbai. ater she walked the runway for various renowned designer of India including Tarun Tahiliani, Ritu Beri. Rohit Bal, Ritu Kumar, and Falguni Shane Peacock. With in a very short span of time Chetri was counted among the most successful models of the glamour industry. During a media interaction, when she was asked about her idol in modelling, she replied,

Well! I don’t actually idolize an individual person when it comes to modelling. There are so many extremely talented models in India and overseas. I always try to idolize the good in all of them so that it’ll be of immense help to my career.”

Acting

Rewati Chetri made her acting debut, in 2016, with a Deepak Dey directed music video produced by Dream House Production, for the Suresh Shama album ‘Tumi Mur,’ and the music was composed by ‘Bulbul and Rosty.’ Next, in 2017, she was announced as a main lead in the Subin Bhattarai directed Nepali movie “Summer Love.” The Nepali film was based on Subin Bhattarai’s bestselling novel ‘Summer Love,’ and it was released in the year 2019. Later, She featured in the movie ‘Gangs Of North East,’ which was based on Northeast India. This film was released in three languages, Hindi for national release, Assamese and Khasi. Miss International India 2016 appeared for the film time on the television screen in Zing’s television drama series ‘Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.’ She got the opportunity to share the screen with lead television actors like Surbhi JyotiParth Samthaan, and Meiyang Chang.

Social works

Rewati Chetri devotes a lot of her time working for the social welfare of the society. She is associated with a number of non profit organisations. In 2016, she participated in a candlelight march demanding justice for a brutally assaulted rape victim who was found dead near the Dihing river in Guwahati, Assam. More than 200 people including many Bollywood celebrities walked seeking justice for the victim and her family. This incident left entire state of Assam in shock and was compared to the Nirbhaya incident happened earlier in New Delhi. She promised to support the victim’s family.

  • Rewati Chetri considers her mother as her inspiration in life. Talking about her mother, she said,

    Definitely my mother. She has not just taught me but lived by example the kind of life every mother expects her child to live. It is from her I learn how to become a woman of substance.”

  • Rewati, in 2015, was among the Top 50 of Times Most Desirable Women along with top Bollywood actresses like Anushka Sharma and Kangana Ranaut.
  • During a media interaction, she was asked to deliver a message for young aspiring girls who also wanted to became super models like her but gets mislead because of different reason. She replied to it as,

    Message, It will sound like a formality but I must take this opportunity to thank most of aspiring models and friends across the region, nation and globe from the bottom of my heart for all the support they have given me. To all the aspiring models I would like to say if you can dream it you can definitely make it too. Work hard, be genuine and dream big. The doors of opportunity are always open. Modeling is not as easy as it looks but if you have the dedication and commitment you can definitely make it happen. I strongly believe that each one of us are here for a purpose. Even if we are not good at everything, each of us are definitely good at something.     If I don’t say Femina Miss India 2015 was my biggest career highlight, neither you nor the readers will believe. Frankly speaking the top 10 finalist yes was a big achievement but bigger was the titles that I won. Miss India Miss Popular and Miss Multimedia are bigger as it is people’s blessings.Miss India Organisation the organisers of Femina Miss India internet gathered reports that I was the most followed, liked, shared, downloaded and talked Miss India finalist and my facebook engagement was twice my nearest contestant. My each facebook posts were viewed by more than 5000 accounts and maximum was over 55000. Out of the 21 contestants I got the highest number of votes (more than 70% of total votes cast) through WeChat application which the Miss India Organization said were in lakhs. Thus I won the public mandated subtitles- Miss India Reliance Digital Miss Multimedia and We Chat Miss Popular besides being the Top 10 finalist of fbb Femina Miss India 2015.”
