Career
At the age of 18, Karunesh had his first open-mic performance at a comedy club in Mumbai. [2]Deccan Herald From starting a YouTube channel in 2011 to performing stand-up comedies in several cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and London (UK), Karunesh earned immense recognition among stand-up comedy lovers. The Mumbai-based comedian is also a writer and performer at India’s one of the leading comedy consultancies named Weirdass Comedy. Several times, he has performed the opening act for the Indian Comedian, Vir Das’, live shows. He has also performed at many comedy festivals such as the Weirdass Pajama (2015), which featured acts by Raju Srivastava and Johnny Lever, and at Bengaluru Comedy Festival 2016. In 2022, he performed at the Stage 42 Festival 2022, hosted by popular stand-up comedians Bill Burr, Russell Peters, and Jerry Seinfeld. In 2019, Karunesh went to USA and Australia for his international stand-up tour. He performed in Dubai also.

While talking about how he came up with the name ‘Aalas, Motapa, Ghabraahat’ for the show, Karunesh said,
The name is part of joke punch line from the show itself. I had written the whole show, we shot it and while we were editing it, I was sitting with show’s director and editor who suggested me to give the name ‘Aalas, Motapa, Ghabraahat.’ The first half of the show is about my parents and the other half is about my relationship with my girlfriend.”
He further added,
I suppose this happened subconsciously because I wrote this show during pandemic. Also, it comes from the attempt to tell my story, which has to be really authentic and unique on stage. So I think, these 3 words can describe a lot of people’s experiences during pandemic.” [3]The Daily Guardian
His love for procrastination (“Meri hobby hai letna… aur passion bhi”) led him to his fourth comedy special titled ‘Adrak Ka Swaad,’ which he performed in 2021.
