Parents & Siblings

His father, Amarnath Sharda, owned a financial and insurance-based business, SMG Securities Limited, in Mumbai. His mother’s name is Reeta Sharda. Kiku lost his mother in July 2023 and his father in September 2023. Kiku has two brothers, Sid Sharda and Sudarshan Sharda.

Following his parents’ demise, Kiku Sharda shared a picture of them on social media and penned a heartfelt note in 2023.

Relationship, Wife & Children

In 2003, he met Priyanka Sharda through his parents, and the couple got married in the same year on 12 December 2003. Kiku is blessed with two sons; Aryan and Shaurya.

Career

In 2001, he debuted as an actor in the Hindi film, ‘Mitti’ in which he played the role of Qasma. He has played supporting role in various Hindi films, including ‘Darna Mana Hai’ (2003), ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ (2006), ‘Dhamaal’ (2007), ‘Happy New Year’ (2014), ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’ (2020), and ‘Angrezi Medium’ (2020).

In 2003, he debuted as an actor in the Hindi TV serial, ‘Hatim.’ His character Hobo in this TV serial gained immense popularity.

His character, Constable Mulayam Singh Gulgule in the SAB TV’s comedy show, ‘F.I.R’ (2006) became very popular. In 2013, he participated in the sixth season of ‘Nach Baliye’ along with his wife, Priyanka Sharda.

 

He has appeared in various TV serials, like ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ (2004), ‘Agadam Bagdam Tigdam’ (2007), ‘Bhaago KK Aaya’ (2008), ‘Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal’ (2014), ‘Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double’ (2017), and ‘Dr Pran Lele’ (2019).

He became a household name with one of the most popular comedy shows in India, ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ in 2013. His duo with the popular Indian comedian, Sunil Grover as Guthhi-Palak became very popular. Kiku has played comedy characters such as Bachcha Yadav, Bumper, Lachha and many more in various comedy shows of Kapil Sharma.

In 2019, he appeared in the Hindi web-series, ‘Booo Sabki Phategi.’

Controversies

On 13 January 2016, Kiku was arrested for mimicking Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. He was arrested for ‘deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings’ under Sec 295 A of the IPC. ^[3]Times of India

 

In 2019, he was accused by the Bollywood art director, Nitin Kulkarni for doing money fraud of Rs 50.70 lakh. Nitin filed a complaint against six people, including comedian Kiku Sharda, who was associated with a charitable trust, The Mumbai Fest. ^[4]India Today
