Controversy
Aman Sehrawat competes under a neutral International Olympic Committee flag at the World Championships.
The United World Wrestling suspended the Wrestling Federation of India for not being able to conduct its elections on time. On 27 April 2023, The Indian Olympic Association organised an ‘ad-hoc’ panel who were supposed to conduct the elections within 45 days. Unfortunately, the panel failed to do so, due to which The United World Wrestling suspended the Wrestling Federation of India. Because of the suspension, wrestlers who were supposed to represent India could not compete under the Indian flag but a neutral International Olympic Committee flag instead, at the World Championships 2023. In case, the Indian wrestler wins the gold medal, the Indian flag will not be displayed during the ceremony and the national anthem will not be played. The medal will solely go to the wrestler and not India. Thus, Aman Sehrawat has to play under a neutral International Olympic Committee flag.
