Alka Badola Kaushal was born on Tuesday, 2 September 1969 (age 52 years; as of 2022) in Delhi. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. Alka has spent her childhood in Allahabad and Lucknow. She did her schooling at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya school, Delhi. Subsequently, she pursued her graduation at Delhi University. Alka attended the National School of Drama Repertory in Delhi and later, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Indian television.

In Television
Alka made her acting debut with the tv serial, Gathaand, which was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Later, she has appeared in serials like Faasle, 9 Malabar Hill, Sansar, Kartavya, Kammal etc. She has also worked in famous tv serials like Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Tara Bai on Color’s Tv. She is mostly seen playing negative roles in TV serials, however, in 2022 she was offered to play a positive role of Sushma in the tv serial Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye. Alka’s positive role was also praised by the viewers. To this, she said that
I would like to mention that whatever films I have done, I have played positive characters. I think an actor is an actor. I might say that I look good in a particular character but I have the ability to portray and do justice to any character.

In 2014, Alka made her Bollywood acting debut in the film Queen where she played the character of Kangana Ranaut‘s mother.
She worked in movies like Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Veere Di Wedding (2018), Soorma (2018), Badhai Ho (2018), and Indoo Ki Jawani (2018). Alka has also worked in Marathi movies.

Apart from films and Tv serials, the actress has also appeared in a few tv commercials like Tanisq (2020).

Controversies
In 2017, Alka and her mother were sent for two years to Sangrur district jail after the Sangrur (Punjab) court upheld the two-year jail term given to the Alka and her mother in a cheque-bounce case by a lower court. Alka and her mother had borrowed Rs.50 lakh from the farmer Avtar Singh to make a serial but did not return his money. When Avtar Singh demanded his money they gave him two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each, which got bounced and so he moved a local court in Malerkotla in 2015, which sentenced the two to two years’ imprisonment.
