Career
Early Pageantry
In 1997, Sylvie Tellier entered the world of pageantry. Encouraged by her then-boyfriend’s mother, she competed in and won Miss Vendée 1997.
This victory allowed her to participate in Miss Pays de la Loire 1997, a stepping stone to Miss France. In this event, Tellier finished as the first runner-up, with Caroll Parfait taking the crown.
Miss France 2002
Four years after her Miss Vendée triumph, Tellier decided to re-enter pageantry. Living in Lyon at the time, she took part in Miss Lyon 2001 and won. This win as Miss Lyon granted her direct entry into Miss France 2002. Representing Lyon in Alsace at the Miss France 2002 competition, she emerged victorious, becoming the seventh Rhône-Alpes representative to win the title.
During her tenure as Miss France, Tellier was a national ambassador for France. She also competed in Miss Universe 2002 but was not placed as winner. Her reign concluded the following year when she crowned Corrine Coman of Guadeloupe as Miss France 2003.
Miss France Committee National Director
Tellier’s involvement with the Miss France Committee began in 2005 when she was hired as the head of external relations. In 2007, following a reorganization at Endemol France, she was promoted to national director of the Miss France Committee and head of the Miss Europe Organization, appointed by Virginie Calmels, the director of Endemol France. She took over from Geneviève de Fontenay, who had held the position for two decades. In August 2022, Tellier stepped down as national director and was succeeded by Cindy Fabre. However, she continued with the organization in a ceremonial and advisory capacity until the end of Miss France 2023.

In recognition of her philanthropic efforts and her management of Miss France, Sylvie Tellier was honored in June 2023 as a knight of the Ordre National du Mérite.
Controversies
Criticism for Dedicating Miss France to Violence Against Women
As the chief organizer, Sylvie Tellier chose to dedicate Miss France 2018 to the cause of combating violence against women. This decision, influenced by the global #MeToo movement that followed the Harvey Weinstein scandal, was met with skepticism and criticism from many, including feminist groups. They questioned the appropriateness of using the Miss France platform to advocate women’s rights in this manner. [5]International Business Times UK
Controversial Outfit Selection for Tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay
In 2023, the Miss France election included a tribute to the late Geneviève de Fontenay, who passed away on August 1. The tribute was simple yet poignant, featuring several generations of Miss France titleholders on stage, each dressed in black pants and a white shirt, complemented by their iconic sash indicating their year of coronation. However, Sylvie’s dress in particular caught a lot of negative attention considering the passive rift between the two before.
