He started his career as an assistant director. He assisted the film director Rajiv Anchal in the Malayalam films like Butterflies (1993), Kashmeeram (1994), and Guru (1997).

He has worked as an assistant director with famous directors like K. Balachander and Priyadarshan. He debuted as a director in the Malayalam film ‘Bharatheeyam’ in 1997.
Some of his directorial Malayalam films are Achaneyanenikkishtam (2001), Vasanthamalika (2002), Pathinonnil Vyazham (2010), and Nakhangal (2013).
