Pro Kabaddi League

Sunil Kumar Malik played for the Patna Pirates in season 4 of the Pro Kabaddi League. He played only one match in the league. In Season 5, he was bought by Gujarat Fortunegiants for Rs 30.40 lakh. He picks up 39 tackle points and -1 raid point in the season. He continued to represent the team for Seasons 6, 7 and 8. He captained the team for the seasons 6 and 7.

In season 9 of the PKL, he was bought by the team Jaipur Pink Panthers for Rs 90 Lakh, becoming the most expensive defender in the history of the PKL player auction. He also became the captain of the team for the season. He played a total of 23 matches and scored 64 tackle points, leading his team to became the winner of the season.

In 2023, he was retained as captain by Jaipur Pink Panthers for season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League.

He made his debut in the South Asia Games in 2019, where the Indian team won the 1st gold medal for the country. In 2021, he took part in the 68th Senior National Kabaddi Championship, where he scored 253 tackle points and 3 raid points. In the 69th Senior National Kabaddi Championship, he picked up 14 tackle points and 4 raid points. In 2023, he was part of the Indian team that won a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games by defeating Iran 33-29 in the finals. He was also the vice-captain of the Indian team.

  • He started playing Kabaddi at the age of 11.
  • He was spotted by Jaivir Sharma after he won a gold in the University Nationals. Later, Jaivir Sharma trained him at the Sports Authority of India, Gandhinagar.
  • In 2015, he joined the Sports Authority of India and won in Junior Nationals for two consecutive years (2015 to 2017). His exceptional performance in the junior-level tournaments caught the attention of Patna Pirates, who later selected him for season 4 of the Pro Kabaddi League.
