Sameer Rizvi is an Indian cricketer who plays for Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit. He made headlines in 2023 when he was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for the 2024 IPL season.

Sameer Rizvi was born on Saturday, 6 December 2003 (age 20 years; as of 2023) in the Loiya village of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
His family later moved to the Lal Kurti area of Meerut. Since the age of five, he showed an interest in cricket and used to go to the stadiums to watch his maternal uncle, Tankeeb Akhtar, play in the cricket tournaments. Domestic
Sameer Rizvi started representing Uttar Pradesh Under-14 during the 2014-15 season and played for them till the 2015-16 season. He played for Uttar Pradesh Under-16 from 2016-17 to 2018-19 season.
He played for Uttar Pradesh Under-19 from 2018-19 to the 2019-20 season. He represented India Under-19 B in the 2018-19 season and India Under-19 A in the 2019-20 season. He played for SG Cantt in a cricket tournament in 2020.
He started playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy in 2019-20 season. Sameer played for Vats Sport in the Guts N Glory Corporate League in 2021 and scored 126 runs in 48 balls in a match.
He captained Uttar Pradesh Under-23 in the 2023 Men’s Under-23 State A tournament of BCCI and hit 84 runs off 50 balls in the final, helping the team to win the tournament; he also hit 37 sixes, the maximum sixes in the tournament.

Sameer Rizvi played for Kanpur Superstars in the inaugural edition of the UP T20 League in 2023. He finished the season as the highest runscorer of the team with 455 runs in 10 matches at an average of 50.56 and a strike rate of 188.8. He hit two hundreds which included the highest score of 122 runs and the fastest century of the tournament. He hit 35 sixes, the maximum sixes in the tournament.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
Sameer Rizvi made headlines due to his hard-hitting performances in the UP T20 League in 2023 due to which he was expected to be one of the most sought-after players. This later proved to be true as during the auction for the 2024 IPL season, he was acquired by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 8.40 crores against his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.
While Sameer’s father credited his uncle, Tankeeb, to be the reason behind Sameer’s success, his uncle, Tankeeb, said that Sameer worked very hard since his childhood to make his dreams come true. Sameer expressed happiness about his selection and said that he wanted to debut for India as early as he could by performing well under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK and India’s World Cup-winning captain.

- His batting style is right-handed, and his bowling style is right-arm off-break. He can play in any position between number 4 and number 7.
- He is popularly known as right-handed Suresh Raina. When Sameer was a kid, Suresh Raina once saw him fielding and was so impressed with his dedication that he gave him one of his goggles.
- Sameer wanted to participate in IPL trials in 2023; however, his coach of the Uttar Pradesh team, Sunil Joshi, told him to play in the BCCI’s Under-23 one-day tournament and perform well there, which he did by scoring 454 runs in 7 matches. He was later acquired for Rs 8.40 crores by CSK in the 2024 IPL auction.
